The plural of aircraft is aircraft. Exactly the same as the plural of armour is armour and the plural of gear is gear. This is because these nouns have irregular plurals.

Wrong. The plural form of the uncountable gear is still gears. It's just that when you use the word in the context of equipment, you're always using the singular, just as if you were using a word like collection. When you have different discrete collections of equipment, it's still correct to use gears as the plural. For example, if I pack all my hunting gear, fishing gear and photo gear, it is just as correct in English to say "I've packed my gears" as it is to refer to all the equipment collectively and continue to use the singular gear. And if you were talking about automobiles, and you opened the transmission you would point at it and say "this car's gear-box contains 5 gears" not "gear".
