History Undercover: To the Edge of Space - Project Manhigh
America's long and careful preparations for space travel are examined in History Undercover: To the Edge of Space - Project Manhigh. Before Neil Armstrong could take that giant leap for mankind in 1969, a hardworking group of scientists had to prepare the way decades before. Project Manhigh was designed in the 1950s as a way to test high-altitude equipment, pilot escape problems, and cosmic rays. The Air Force program sent men to the edges of the stratosphere in helium balloons in an effort to perfect manned space travel. Archival footage and record-breaking flights made up the Project. In this one-hour program, the History Channel documents the discovery of the parameters of the ideal astronaut. ~ Sarah Ing, Rovi

At around 6:08 or 6:09, you see his Kittinger's team helping him out of the suit.
One of the team mates gives him the finger to shake him out of the daze he was in, and you see him smile at the guy who did it

Considering I use to skydive pretty often and know what it's like to fall from a perfectly good airplane, the idea of going the speed of sound with out a fixed wing aircraft is just flat out amazing. I've watched a few documentaries about this jump and I'm not only glad but surprised to see it covered here.
Thanks...
Thanks...
