Its nice to get 6 of your daily tokens in your first game, which is why the P-40 has become one of the first planes that I play each night. It's good. But it's good no matter how you build it. Speed build, no problem, turn build, yeah you can do that too. It can take out heavy fighters, bombers, multiroles, and even some turn fighters. If you haven't made the P-40 one of your valued tier 5 planes then, by all means, do the deed and you will not regret it.

Yep, loved it from the start.

P-40 was one of the first planes I could expect to get 10k pp almost every battle at a time when conventional wisdom was that US Lights are useless because of their 12.7mm guns.

 

Specialised, with fully Calibrated Ultimate equipment & my top US pilot its good for 692kmh boost while retaining 10.2s turn which gives it great flexibility to get into range & guns on target vs most enemies or out of harms way vs others.

The 6* 12.7mm burns down anything in short order, even more since the buff.

 

There are certainly faster planes, better turning planes & planes with more firepower in T5 but probably only the MiG-3 has similar flexible mix, its a bit more turny with less firepower & a bit more altitude.

You're forgetting the most important part... the MiG-3 is also sexier...

It's a great plane.
It's my goto T.V at EU.

It's funny coz noboy is flying it at EU.
You'll attract a lot of salty dm's from frustrated spitfire drivers.

The Pfourty is a great fighter,another plane that will surprise you is the F4F.The 2 planes play very similar but one has rockets.When the goose first came out beleive it or not the P40 and F4F was my go to planes,the P40 because of its altitude and the F4F because of its rockets.I got alot of rocketeer medals with the F4F against the goose.

 

I also agree that the Mig3 is a great plane as well

 

 

Any of the above mentioned planes are a must haves for me.

If you love "spray n' pray", the P-40 is just what you need on T-5. 
You can hold the trigger down for a very loooooooong time before the MG's overheat. 

 

In doing so, a lot of the bullets from the fire fans of the wing mounted 6 MG's will hit by sheer chance alone and do a lot of damage.  
You don't need the marksman skills for your P-40 pilot, so free them up for other skills.

despite the P-40 being completely ahistorical in WoWP, it is a very good plane as long as Emil hasn't come to play.  I had an ACE in mine a week or so back, but not quite as good of a result as the OPs.

I've been swatting Bf-109Es aside in mine.  Get them into the vertical, then exceed their yellow, and then you have them smoked.  The Emil's performance drops off more in the yellow than the P-40s does.  The superior climb rate is something to work with.

In reality, the Warhawk was completely outclassed much above 10k feet due to the lack of superchargers on the Allison engine.  (early Mustangs had the same issue, but we all know how the Merlin engines changed that issue!)   Down low, the P-40 could outturn the German fighters, but wasn't fast enough to escape a Zero, which is MUCH more nimble down low.  

 

I believe it was Greg's channel that had the power curves for the P-40 vs the German fighters, and anything above 12k(?) the Warhawk was sucking wind.

OK right, yah it should probably not get a 1600m white altitude given the known altitude limitations of the Alison & significantly restricted altitude of MRs equipped with better altitude engines.

I thought you were complaining about the airframe shape/equipment setup or something.
