I learned a couple things:

 

1) Don't wait until there's only 20 hours left before the P38L mission expires to finish about half of the missions.

 

2)The game doesn't properly reward cappers.  When I was knocking out the "Destroy 100 air defense aircraft" mission, my win/loss rate when up by about 10 percentage points.

 

The problem?  I was hopping between red sectors, clearing out air defense aircraft, capping them and then for achieving the primary goal of the game I would get maybe 5 or 6k points.  No wonder so many people just chase kills instead of actually trying to win the match.

Personal points is not reflective of collective objective...as it implies, "personal".

 

If the ADAs give as much payout as enemy combat group planes will it skew the incentive into simply avoiding contact with enemies altogether and just go hunt ADAs?

Killing ADFs is literally the fastest way to cap sectors for a heavy over a garrison, and same with Airbase and Military Base to a lesser degree.  Capturing sectors does give extra points, so that part of the OP isn't entirely right either.  Can you get more points killing red instead of white?  Yes, we all know that.  Still, capturing sectors is what wins.  And that gets you more points.

OP is absolutely right. Nothing can cover that difference in PP (personal points) for destroying various kinds of planes.

Destroying an enemy team plane gives you 1200 PP.

Destroying an ADA gives you 375 PP.

It's more than triple.

1 ADA = 75 PP

 

Not quite triple, but yes, there's a big difference.

 

ADAs can be easier to shoot down, though I've run into more then one that seem to be channeling the spirit of the Red Baron....

A full HP enemy plane is worth 1,000 points. A full HP light ADA is somewhere around 300 and a heavy one 500 IIRC. A damaged plane wouldn't be worth as much.

 

Later in the battle select ADAs may turn super mode, being nearly impervious to damage and even fire.

 

Sadly, the payout is tied to personal points and the yellow popup achievements, sometimes outweighing the entire victory bonus...

You capped more sectors and you won more games. I fail to see the lack of reward for capping.
