So, here is a new topic since I posted (and bought) the XP-58.

I have long shunned this plane. I like plane history and this one has a dismal record. But real life and WOWP do not often coincide. Plus, it's ugly as heck, but some really ugly planes are pretty good.

I do not see many humans playing this plane. That makes sense given the stats. It's basically my last of the tech tree USA premiums I have yet to win/buy (with exception for the 2PA).

I still have some gold left and the price is low. Do I go for it, or hope for a crate drop in the future?

Again, thanks for any advice.

I got Hero, McGuire, McCambell and 15k personal points this morning. Guns are wicked and don't really overheat. Bombs are good enough. Beats the 109Z and F7F (just be careful).Eats tier 6&7 bombers up. Worth it.

So say we all.

At 3,100 gold it's a steal. I bought it today and ground out the 60 kills, 2,500/3,000 capture points, and 50k/100k damage with it alone. It gains speed while boost climbing and can make up to around 700kph while boosting. The 10 full-power buffed guns are actually have a good chance to one pass a GAA...and it's lighter for a HF at 13sec turn time.

It's flimsy at 400 base HP and I personally find myself constantly gasping for boost (only has 20 sec of boost), but overall it's a good option if you can spare the 3,100 gold...better than VB 10 if you ask me though. The 10 buffed US 50 cals are more reliable than the mixed caliber and unbuffed MGs.

I made two McGuires back to back and one Marseille, plus two over 10k damage games over the course of today's session and I'm not even a heavy player. A solid plane at a good rate.

I wanted one in 1.x, but I wasn't prepared to lay down actual $ for it.  With the recent gold compensations past few months, I decided to spend some gold here instead of tonks and bought it and the Swedish T8 meatball plane and flew each exactly once to show on my player profile.  I would definitely use it in my US pilot XP training regiment if that was my goal. :great:

Pya: That was the best, most concise explanation ever. Thank you!

I am purchasing as I hit Post.

PS: I gave Cundalini a +1 just for the sunglasses.

In your other thread about the chain lightning i spoke about how great it was for training the player and the pilots for use in P-38's.

It is in that same spirit that i tell you this plane is a great trainer for your Mustang pilots. The pilot skill set that favors a mustang (ABE, MM1, ADE, MM2, FF) really gets the most out of the planes engine and; more importantly, its gun layout.
Though it doesnt HAVE to be your Mustang drivers. Anyone with Marksman 1 or 2 will be enough.

On its own the Eagle's 10 Freedom Dispensers chew up the scenery much like the P-82's in tier 8.  However the dispersal of the firepower across the wings makes it a bit less of a buzz saw. So that "accuracy when shooting at manuvering targets" buff comes in handy
It is however still enough to do the job and if you want to be particularly nasty about it you can get in a flight with another Eagle and tear through pretty much everything you see in less than a second when you focus your combined fire on one target. (except maybe a Spec B-29. that takes; like, 2 seconds ;)

For ground work the bombs are nice enough for what they do. getting that last little bit of a cap zone flipped with ground damage after you killed all the flying stuff.
However thats not the only way for it to do that. If you get the right bonus traits on gear you can have a reeeeallly good Fire starter build.
No bombs to drop and no bombers to shoot over an enemy mining plant that you really gotta capture?
No problem. This plane can set everything on fire no matter how big, tough and/or armored it is if you shoot at it long enough.
Other cap zones with softer stuff? they melt like butter.
And again working together with another Eagle means everything dies twice as fast or burns twice as often.

Is it worth the gold? its a cheaper version of either of the P-82's. Down tiered to tier 7. so you get what you pay for.

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is on par with my WinRate. Hit or Miss.
