Unfortunately, you guessed right.
How low do you have to sink to open a flght with Xp-31 and I-5 Shks or with two Fw 57 and fly around in T2/3 as a clan player with more than
10,000 battles?
Depends on how many mechanical parts your MiG-15's Experimental Gyroscopic Sight needs to be enhanced to Ultimate, I guess.
Not that this very specific example is personal, or anything...

I was right. Whipped out my Ar-68 to go grab me some mechanical parts, and the first battle was Do-17Z, FW-57, spec Ar-68 and a pair of spec, flighted XP-31s on the red team. My team had a bowl of potatoes who couldn't get out of their own way, so my 17k PP and 5 sectors captured could not overcome the potato salad that was the blue team.
But it tells you where people are fighting for these rewards. Since most of the prizes don't have win conditions, all you need to do is go out and score PP. Maybe I'll have to whip out my FW-57 and club the crap out of all the things. Better yet, flight up with a Pez Dispenser pilot and just crush T3.

This salvage party was both a blessing and a curse.
I did get my 50 instrument parts with the 15 games of 6000 PP, but it was barely enough for a few more parts because I always lost.
There were too many good players in the low-tier that made it most of time impossible for me to win.
And in the few battles where luck put me on the right side, I didn't get 8000 PP because the pros cleared all the kills.
In T5 I did have 2 upgraded fighters, but I didn't have any chances there either. Most of the time I was low-tier in T5 and the top players took the victories with their XP-54 or another heavy.
I think, with my very limited playing experience, that in mid-tier the Heavys always make the game. The fighters always have a big challenge to overcome for a win and unfortunately I'm not good enough for that yet.
The weekend was therefore extremely frustrating for me and I want to go to my mommy to have a good cry.
There was only one game during the whole weekend where I really had fun and that was when I scored my fourth ace with my BF 109 B.
In this game I also won my tenth Marseille Medal.
For me, this medal has even more value because you have to make only three less kills for it, but you have to survive and win.

Limited playing experience? LOL.
HFs are the Kings of the Skies T-3 through T6. FW-57, Bf-110B, P-38F, XP-54/Ki-102 (pick your poison.) Only in Tier VII do bombers start to become the ruling class, and the HFs begin to wane. The Tu-1 would like to make an argument, and the Bf-109Z would second that motion.
