I have often seen in this forum opinions on which Tier being the worst for being low Tier most frequently.  I know I certainly had my own opinion.

 

So I decided to collect some hard data on the subject.  For 7 days in a row I flew a total of 160 battles (averaging almost 23 battles per day) and documented how many I was low or high.  Always in the past, when I have approached 20 battles in a day it has averaged out to about a 50/50 split.  Not this time.

 

As always, I flew only bombers.  So I flew Tiers III through IX, omitting any Tier X battles for obvious reasons. 

 

Since I already know the results, I will not vote in the poll and I will release my accumulated data after sufficient time to allow lots of votes.  I am interested in your opinions on which Tiers are the worst.

Ya did not put T10 in here and I am always getting out done by the fact that I have to go up against T11 all the time

I wanted to see what the MM would do, not what I could do by only flying Tier X.

 

But, like you, I have long suspected that there is a Tier XI that we cannot access and, I suppose there must also be a Tier Zero.

I have recently been recording more information about my battles, and based my votes on the 191 records I have:

 

Tier 2 -2 battles, 100% low tier

Tier 3 - 3 battles, 100% low tier

Tier 4 - 25 battles, 32% low tier

Tier 5 - 31 battles, 45% low tier

Tier 6, 26 battles, 27% low tier

Tier 7, 30 battles, 33% low tier

Tier 8, 11 battles, 9% low tier

Tier 9, 48 battles, 31% low tier

Tier10, 15 battles

 

29 battles were against an all bot team.

I've only been flying T6 and T7 the last couple of months - for me, I'm still seeing about a 30% bottom tier rate.  It certainly does seem like I've seen more though.

Only bots can play tier XI. I'm pretty sure someday mm will give them flying saucers to shoot us down at tier X.

Interesting thought, bring back the flying saucer, without the snowballs, put it in T11, the only one in T11, give it death rays and a HP of 280.  That would be fun!!!!!

 

You could take it out but watch out for the ray gun!!!

I get tired of the banter asking why do skins or emblems if nobody else can see it.  And my reply is I do it for me not you!!!!!

 

Ya know I created an Underpants skin for the Captain and he never used it so work down the drain!!!!

As I have mentioned many times, I do not use mods or fool with the game files.  But you are welcome to use my likeness on all your own planes!

Tier III  19 high, 10 low

 

Tier IV  13 high, 8 low

 

Tier V  11 high, 6 low

 

Tier  VI  14 high, 7 low

 

Tier VII  11 high, 10 low

 

Tier VIII  22 high, 12 low

 

Tier IX  12 high, 5 low

 

I hardly know what to think about this.  It is completely outside of my experience and I wonder if they changed something.  I was low Tier only a teeny over 36%.  Day 8, which I did not include in this count, did bring back a bit of reality.  I was low Tier 7 out of 10 battles.  I don't know what to think.

So, maybe WG did change something so that, on average, a player will be low tier 30-40% of the time.  Day to day experience will be more variable, relative to the number of people playing at the time?

Interesting.  So I didn't fly much between mid August and mid March, and it does seem to me that I'm seeing low tier more than I used to, though not to the extent of what your seeing.   I was 40% for the 130 battles I flew in March Trials (mostly T6/T7).

 

I'm currently 23% downtier after 46 battles for the VB 10 (still T6/T7).  I flew 6 battles last night, was top tier everytime (not that it helped my winrate LOL).

 

I'm tech tree grinding right now, so I haven't spent anytime in the other tiers (and I have 0 T9  and T10).

Just so happens I keep records of top tier versus downtiered battles, so I have a substantial number of battles to consider..

I only counted planes that were specalized.:Here are my numbers

 

Tier 4:    330 Battles: Bottom Tier = 45%

Tier 5:    522 Battles: Bottom Tier = 47%

Tier 6:    240 Battles: Bottom Tier = 30%

Tier 7:    333 Battles: Bottom Tier = 39%

Tier 8:    694 Battles: Bottom Tier = 34%

Tier 9:    396 Battles: Bottom Tier = 33%

 

I haven't done any significance testing, but given the number of battles, it certainly appears that tiers 4, 5 and 7 appear to have a greater probability of being downtiered than the others, but they certainly aren't being downtier most of the time. I have numbers for individual aircraft class at each tier, which mainly are in line with overall tier scores.
