No, nothing has changed for this part. Tecnically you can complete this marathon only one time, so the compensation will also be given once when you complete it, but I agree that the wording is a little bit misleading, I'll pass along your feedback

Japanese ?? Did I mis something ? There's a Twin Mustang with an 8 skill US pilot and the VB-10 with a 7 skill French pilot ...

It appears if you already have the plane and reassign it to another nation before completing the missions you receive a pilot of that nationality instead of French.

I'll be sure to try that on Asia because I already have it there. I don't have it on NA and it does come with 7 point French pilot.

I moved my VB-10 to German tree, got the 7pt German pilot, the 5% paint, & the Gold, thks WG

I actually did a fair bit of the progress & the last battle with the VB-10 itself, it is a pretty dang fun plane so this felt like a good opportunity to take it out for a spin.

Those who don't already have it & do have the time to do a bit of plane spamming to finish the mission: its a worthy prize

I'm trying to finish it - 39 bombers/GAA left to go and 321 aerial kills - I think I'll make it, especially if I continue or exceed last night's pace (55 aerial kills and 25 bomber/GAA kills in 6 missions).  I'm planning on extra push on Friday and maybe, if needed, Saturday.

 

If I buy the plane now (i.e., before the event ends), change it's nation and then sell it, I'll get the 7 point pilot for that nation?

That was what's being reported. Based on this I would have bought, changed nation, and receive a pilot I could use right away.

Why are you selling?  The point is you have the plane with changed nation in your hangar, so that when you complete the event, you get the pilot for that nation along with the gold (I also made sure no pilot was in the plane when I finished it, just in case...you know..so I don't go digging through the barracks looking for said pilot).  If you sell the thing beforehand, you'll get  a French VB and the French pilot...I assume.  Actually, go with your plan and let us know how it pans out.

I had a German pilot in mine (flew last battle of the mission in it), still got the pilot, 100% trained on VB-10 but in the barracks.

I switch my Asian one to American and I got one 7pt American pilot ready to go.

 

You'd be paying 6.4k gold for one pilot though...

Yeah, but you gotta take into account that you will definitely be able to finish the mission or that gold is wasted for nothing.

 

Also, the paint is unique (not normally buyable ingame).

Oh, for sure.   I won't buy the plane until I know I can finish the event.  I already finished the capture points.  I'm very confident that I can get the bombers and GAAs, especially since I'm working the P-38J right now.   The aerial targets is slightly questionable - if I can get in 5 or 6 battles a day and around 10 to 12 on Friday and Saturday I'm confident I can finish it.

 

Based on my current average, I need about 44 more battles (averaging 7 kills a game) to finish the aerial targets portion, with 6 days left.

Oh, the news page got corrected to May 9. I saw it when it said May 5...I finished well before though.

 

I went at a pace of 100 kills and 30 bombers per day with 1-2 hours of play each. With Me P.1101 getting to the 100 kill mark is not hard, and the key thing to remember is bomber flights DO count towards bomber/GAA progress so hunt some down if you really need the number there. The capture points comes naturally. On Asia I was getting so many kills that I decided to push on the last 200 kills to shave off a day.

 

700 aerial targets is certainly more lenient than the 700 enemy planes demanded in March Trials...and it means you can freely kill anything that flies, not hampering your play THAT much.
