Quick Overview

If you take all the news from here, combine it with Wargaming youtube videos, interviews with CEO Victor Kislyi, and list it all chronologically, you can use it to plot major milestones in the game, and answer questions like:

-- when was this-or-that premium released?

-- when was such-and-such announced?

-- when was that change made exactly?

Quick Overview

If you take all the news from here and list it chronologically, you can use it to plot major milestones in the game, and answer questions like:

-- when was this-or-that premium released?

-- when was such-and-such announced?

-- when was that change made exactly?

The answer to how they define "SOON" would be interesting.

Wow, that's one hella'va list ... Thanks Jelly!

.

so, I have looked and see I arrived at 1.1

the game was very fun, somewhat buggy

and I played with great pilots and friends

within 5 months we got 1.4...

wow things were looking great, this game has legs!

then:

within 3 months ((8/2014))... BOTS??? why

oh yeah... this will fix everything

now we have a crappy (in comparison) solitaire plane game

beat the machine motivation

could'a been a contender

I signed up & played a couple of battles waaay back, no idea wth was going on or what version.

Properly started somewhere between 2.0 & 2.0.2.

I know I got the I-207/4 & Blenheim IV for free but not sure if in Events (I have special cammos for them so I guess the Events then?).

C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas le SerB.

I joined 7/11/2013 and I'm pretty sure that was open beta but a great list! The switch from 1.4 to 1.5 was huge and it caused many to drop out. I did for a while. Before that the GAA had dominated the game. They went a bit overboard and made it so that it was costly to outfit a GAA and consequently many of us groundpounders dropped off. I've since learned to go fast, go up and down and side to side.

I remember before sectors and bombers there was a headquarters deep in enemy territory and the heavies with bombs would try to rush to get it. I don't remember when that changed.

I understand the lack, of tech tree content.  Though, I sure do wish that they'd introduce more planes.  Germany could/should have a Heavy Bomber line, the US should have theirs fleshed out (and massively rebalanced).  The UK and Japan should have bomber lines, as well.  Having Italy as either a full line or additions to the Euro line would be welcome.

Do you seriously want more bombers in this game ???
Look at T10 and see where this is going. There is only one choice to fly either Bombers or Bomber-Killers.

If you don't follow this choice you can only hope someone (either human or bot) in your team does...

I am hopeful for more tech tree content, but honestly, I am skeptical of Japanese bombers unless they could be differentiated in a meaningful way from those of other nations -- such as the Ohka bomb (IJN) and radio-guided surface-to-air missiles (IJA) at tier VI approx and beyond.  That would certainly make them unique.  If that doesn't happen (or isn't planned anytime soon) then I would anticipate something more conventional offered as a premium, possibly at tier II, III, or IV, like the Potez 540, given the relative scarcity of bombers at those tiers.  Ther are currently no tier II bombers in game for any country, for example, and only 2 at tier III (SB and Potez 540).  Speculation only.

-- USA -- 4-engines -- flying fortresses, flying wings

-- Germany -- 2-engines -- schnellbombers

-- USSR -- 2-engines -- speed/agility + forward-firing weapons

-- UK -- 4-engines -- mid altitude, good defenses, some really big bomb options if allowed, also radar games

-- Japan -- 2-engines -- kind of conventional (and possibly fragile) until tier VI approx at which time IJN gets Ohka, or IJA gets radio-guided bombs

For the US line you could add in the B45. 1st Gen jet bomber that was actually in service. I know I'll never get the B58 so that will have to do!

There are a LOT of UK bombers that could be added. Enough to go to T10 probably.

There are actually 4 bombers at Tier III.  The UK and Germany each have one.

Thank you for reminder. So,

-- tier II bombers = none

-- tier III bombers = SB (tech), Ju 86 E, Blenheim MK. IV (e.), Potez 640 (premiums)

It might be that tier II is being kept simpler for newer players. Also, a tier II premium bomber would not do much to help XP gain. It would be far faster to level the pilot/gunner at a higher tier and retrain as needed.

That is an imbalance issue.  You shouldn't prevent the inclusion, of more planes, because of an existing imbalance.  Look at it like this.  The Ju 288 C's SD 250 bomb does 5,000 damage, with a 75 meter blast radius.  The Ju 287's SD 500, which is twice as big as the SD 250, only does 7,000 damage with a 90 meter blast radius.  The SC 1000, which is 4x the weight of the Ju 288 C's bombs, does 10,000 damage with a 100 meter blast radius.  WarGaming made the decision to double the damage, of a bomb, one tier up.  The Ef 131 has an even faster reload, which is ridiculous.

Having more bombers, in game, doesn't make the game bad.  I would argue that tier 9 and 10 bombers are completely fine, outside of the interaction with Mining Facilities (which is the problem).  As it stands, the American bombers are more of an imbalanced, for the game, than anything that the Soviet or German tech trees offer.  At least German bombers are balanced, with a combination of low health and a weak point defense capabilities (compared to Heavy Fighter in-coming damage and versus equal tier American bomber air defense weapons).

I agree with Roland, not looking forward to having more bombers in the game.( btw how are you going to balance Brit bombers, with 30cal defensive fire only?)

I remember the high tiers being much more fun when there were no bombers involved.

... does 10,000 damage with a 100 meter blast radius.

And that's why a hardcore bomber pilot with the EF 131 only needs to know the best overflight route of each base, to fly at low altitude over a sector on this route, drop his 4 bombs at regular intervals and has thus conquered each sector in one overflight. If he has to approach from an unfavorable direction, he needs at most two overflights.
He then intentionally crashes behind the sector because the distance from the re-entry point to the next sector is shorter and less dangerous than flying there normally.

Do you like that when you don't fly the EF 131 ?

I'm not seeing anything impressive, in that video outside of him bomb-dropping opponents.  And I've never seen any quality bomber players suiciding, to avoid having to fly through traffic.  But, the mining facility is the ONLY node that can be single stripped, by a tier 9 or 10 bomber.  If you take the wrong path on the mining facility or get bad RNG, then you're talking 100 seconds base, to take it.  The power, of the tier 9 and 10 bombers, is that RNG is less impactful (due to the combination of extreme damage and massive blast radius) and you maintain the same reload time, as you did in the tiers prior.  This is the same reason why the Ju 288 C is so cumbersome - the damage potential is no different than the tier 7 bomber (and only marginally greater than the tier 6), but site health has increased and you gain no additional measures.  The tier 9 and 10 imbalance, in damage, radius, and no reload cost just makes it that much easier.

Adding new bombers doesn't make the problem different.  Remember, the game only allows, for 2x per side.  So, the aspect of them being American, German, or Soviet is no different from them being Japanese or British.  If you don't want new planes, that's fine.  It is ok, to disagree.

I don't mind new planes in this game - it wouldn't have to be new bombers, of all things, in my opinion.
But it is also from my point of view completely ok, if you have different opinions.
Although I know someone else here in the forum (you are not meant), who usually claims that only his opinion counts.

I think you might be mixing up bombers.  The Ju 287 has 1000 lb bombs.
