You can win for the first time the goose (and the Antonov-Masha, too) out of the Holiday Supply Crates !!!

So everyone who wants a goose has only to open his wallet and needs a little bit luck...

I have no idea about this game and just shoot down as many red and white planes as possible.

Thank you. Will be buying 100 boxes.

Just FYI, the beaufighter link on the lootbox page takes you to the Grumman plane on the site.

Quick question, will the priority for planes roll a plane you need first or is each plane random?

Whether and which planes you win is purely random. That's why you may win planes that you already have. Of course, you will then be credited with the corresponding gold value, but it underlines that the planes are not matched with your hangar inventory.

Do not quote me on this because I only speak from my own experience with the crates.

My experience is that you will get a premium that you do not have before you get compensation for an existing premium.

Sort of like a tally sheet. What you do not have is on a random list and you get one of them.

That is how I acquired most of my premiums.

Now however all I get is compensation. Because I have all the premiums on the list.

@ lostwo.

I got two comped premiums before my one new premium, and a third comped one after. (Holiday crates.)

data point, if nothing else.

I know for sure that is how it used to be done over on World of Warships with their Santa Gift Containers.  However, that is not how they do it here in Warplanes.   Here your plane is TRULY Random. If u get one you already own. You will be compensated with gold, but only ONCE per crate type.

For instance I have most of the prems.... am still missing a few...  I do have all the ones offered in steel crates.  I used to get random planes and gold comped. Now that ive been gold comped for all of them, steel crates no long drop planes for me.   You will get totally random planes from holidays, and your gold comp starts over again, as these are a different crate.   So you'll get comped for all the planes that u have 1 time, Or you'll get planes you don't have.  (until u have them all, and got gold comped for them 1 time)

I don't think getting goose would be that hard honestly...  I got gold comped for it in my first 10 crates.

Be warned, the drop rate on planes is no where near 35%. Out of my 100 crates I received 11 planes (duplicates included). I was missing 7 planes on the list of 34. Of those seven received 4 of them, including the Shenyang. Don't get me wrong, totally worth the purchase, but the drop rates are closer to 11-12%.

My 100 box sample yielded 11% plane drop rate, which seems more in line with other rates from WG. I think there is an error. Gold drop rate was %37. Free XP %39. Premium days %13.

Please note that drop chances for prize groups are only applicable if you open a Supply Crate for the first time and don't already have Premium aircraft from the prize list.

This means that as soon as you have already got the plane and the compensation for it, they will no longer drop from the crate, respectively, the chances for other prizes from the second group will increase (gold, free experience, premium days).

That makes a lot of sense. Thank you for explaining it. Crates were a very good value regardless of drop rates. Thank you WG for making them available.

This would have been nice to know :P

Thought it would provide another prize from the same prize group instead.

Pretty much all of this. About half of my hanger is premiums that i won in various givaways, mission grinds,  awards, crates etc.

so for me the pay out is drastically different than for a Noob with 500 battles and no plane over tier 5.

But when all is said and done ... It worked out for me pretty well. Is it gambling?
"Well Yes but also No"
Oh yes absolutely in the sense that you dont know what you get.
However it is not really gambling in the sense that you loose value on the exchange and walk away with empty pockets.

Spoiler Math

So i wind up treating myself to the $40 dollar special bundle. which should return me $90 dollars of ingame stuff according to my spoiler math.
Merry Christmas to Me :coin:. Right? Even if i get suuuuuper trolled  and get the worst possible "luck".

well this is what i got

from each crate

For a grand total of:

  • 17 days of premium
  • 10.750 gold
  • 5,820 extra gold from 6 of 7 premium planes
  • 100 thousand free experience. (the big payout here)
  • 2500 extra gold worth of premium consumables
  • A dozen or so special equipment. half stock experimental, half advanced
  • Parts galore.

All from 40 dollars.
Money well spent as far as i am concerned.

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is on par with my WinRate. Hit or Miss.
I start on the right track and then sometimes make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...

The math on this is either incredibly misleading or just plain wrong.  In Jimmy's case, he owned 10 of the 17 planes.   You would think that his drop rate would then be 14%, and he would only get planes from the group of 7.   But instead he planes from BOTH groups and only a lowered drop rate.

Either you should only be receiving planes you don't have, OR the drop rate should start at 35% for everyone

Anything else at best, misleading, and at worst, a deliberate con job.

Dreaming of better days.  When this game had full matches, fiery dogfights, and hope for the future.

"Well Yes but also No"

[stuff]

All from 40 dollars.
Money well spent as far as i am concerned.

I also decided to spend $40.

I am growing unhappy with the Experimental equipment drops.  I have received, in the last three sets of crates either purchased directly or part of some package, been dropped EIGHT period II or III Experimental Turret Armor.  Yes, eight of them.  I do not use turret armor in any bomber or GAA turret slot.  Zero.  None.  And have no plans to do so.  Literally ANY of the other experimental equipment pieces would have been better.  I got plenty of premium time and gold, so the $40 paid off to more like $96 worth of stuff, so I am not complaining much.  But eight in a row of the same thing - a thing that I have literally zero use for?  Fix your slot machine, WG.

In the crates from the event, I got two experimental RBCs, and one Experimental Uptuned Engine.  I went through my equipment and sold all but two of my Turret Armors, plus some other stuff I never use - over a million silver, net.

WG, please stop dropping the same equipment over and over and over.  Oh, and please sell some of the Special Projects gear again.  I prefer the Experimental gear, but that only drops in the slot machine pulls, errrrr, crates, so I would rather just buy the stuff outright, and skip the "surprise mechanics".

To anyone who wants to buy crates, they usually do drop more value than they cost, just in premium time and gold.  Plus you get stuff like free XP (I got nearly 300k out of all the crates I've gotten over the past week), premium planes, pilots with skill points, materials, and equipment.  I did get a lot of mechanical parts in the crates, which also makes me happy.
