so i'm curious i haven't flown it since early days (was it available in alpha or beta?) anyways, i was a confirmed turner back then, and hated it
what are your tactics that you're seeing success with? fly it like a heavy? are you just picking off stragglers around the edges of caps?
is it fast enough to disengage from a turny LF? let me look at the stats in both Compare and 3dmodels...
omg... it's outclassed by almost everything starting with max altitude = 1k meters that's GA-ish low! and six 50s is less than three 20mms
though i always have a good battle in the P-40, with the same 50s but that's not enough to invest time in the f4f for me, anyway

It is faster than anything that can out turn it. While at the same time out turns anything faster than it. And that is with its payload of HVAR mounted. Which are very good for reliably securing ground kills on demand with a rocket sight.
the only trouble happens when you try to be fast and turn fight at the same time. Like when take on a turn fighter and a fast mover intervenes (or vice versa)
Keep your head on a swivel and pick your fights (and cap zones) with care and you can be competitive with all the Multi-Roles you see.
Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is on par with my WinRate. Hit or Miss.
I start on the right track and then sometimes make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...

I'd disagree with being able to outrun things it cannot out-turn. The F4F's biggest Achilles Heel is that it sits uncomfortably in a zone where it can be caught by Spitfires and Messeschmitts while not being able to easily out-turn them. It doesn't bleed speed like a Focke-Wulf which makes it a lot more energy efficient but also means it cannot exploit the bleed-boost jank of the Warplanes flight model to artificially tighten its turn like the 190s can. It rudder isn't as bleedingly strong as the Boomerang and its stall speed is 30kph higher, all of which adds up to a plane that is frustratingly average, neither fast enough nor with enough boost to outlast a pursuer, suffering from multirole boost acceleration and altitude meaning it can be caught in a sprint quite easily and at the same time doesn't have the enough soft stats to pull off some real jank.
Its an ok plane but it isn't a good one. You need to pick your fights and position with a great deal of care and that alone limits its ability to move the needle

***
But a truce to this mournful story
For death is a distant friend
So here's to a life of glory
And a laurel to crown each end

It definitely needs the option to not carry rockets while Specialised.
Thats an extra 10-12km/h Cruise & Boost speed plus a smidgen of climb.

yes since the gun buffs weegee did to the .50 cals the f4f is a great all around plane.
it a definate threat in the right hands.and a decent low alt.fighter
it does the ABC thing very well.
the missles are awsome.plus its tuff----missles plus tuff =equals not fun in head ons for opponents,,lol
as of this posting its my favorite plane in the game
