Is it possible to get both? 

 

I have herd of people saying they have 300 planes.  I have 283 in my hangar, there are 9 tech tree planes I don't have and 7 premium/special planes I know about but don't have and that only brings me up to 299.  I think the spitfire Vb might be the 300th plane I'm missing.  

 

When the spitfire Vb came up for sale I didn't bother with it because I already got the Vb IM for free in an event.  I know the stats are exactly the same so I thought it was the same plane without the Iron Maiden name but now I'm not sure.  I just thought Eddie was disabled in both when the Vb came out.  Does Eddie still work in the Vb IM? I haven't bothered to look.  

 

P.S.  Eddie would have looked so cool in the quad machine gun turret of the Beaufighter V and than I could actually see him without changing my camera view and taking my eyes off the battle.

I'm still crying inside that the IM plane came out in the 6 month window I wasn't playing, and they never followed up with the second one.    I used to wear the Aces High t-shirt with Eddie in the cockpit back in high school.

I had a poster of Eddie in the cockpit I won at a carnival when I was about 8 or 9.   I didn't know anything about the Spitfire he flew till last month I learned here in the forums.

 

I have two Spits the German capture and the la.  What does la stand for?

"Ia" is presumably a revision/option of Mark 1 model?  I'm sure the wikipedia or elsewhere on the internet has the full details.

It is the Dunkirk one, with the special pilot that makes it even MORE turny.

It is the ultimate expression of the n00bfire.  Specialized, it is just plain silly.

I love Iron Maiden too but don't feel to bad.  It was an awesome idea but the execution sucked.  You could only see Eddie in battle and to do it you had to push a button that made your mouse move the camera instead of your plane, turn the camera all the way around to face backwards and look at the front of your plane, than zoom in.  While you were doing all of this you were probably going to get shot at and to respond you would have to repeat the whole process to start flying your plane again by which time you are probably already dead.  I did it only once when I first got the plane and I haven't done it since.  I even forgot how which is why I asked if Eddie even still works anymore, I have no idea now.  I'm more disappointed about the Beaufighter  Vb IM being cancelled.  If Eddie was in the gunner's seat you could see him the whole battle. 

 

The plane itself isn't that great either.  It is just a worse version of the tier 6 Spitfire.  The only thing that it has going for it is that it is a premium so the Spitfire Vb is the exact same thing considering how much you will actually see Eddie.  It's just one more premium to get your daily 2x on if you even can get both. 

 

If you have seen a screenshot from someone else you have already seen it.  If Eddie doesn't work anymore than IM are just two random letters that doesn't mean Iron Maiden anymore.  If you cant get both you don't get any benefit from having it anymore above the plain Vb.  If anything the IM is just a status symbol that means I didn't have to pay for it.

There are two different Spitfires at Tier VI, the Vb and the Vb 1M.  The Dunkirk Spitfire is at Tier V and is the Spitfire MK1.

Perfect just the guy I was hoping would reply.  You are one of the people who said you have 300 planes.  So you have both the Vb and the Vb IM?  Do you know if Eddie still works in the Vb IM?

I do have both and I have 300 planes.  I can't swear to whether Eddie stills appears because I never fly it anymore.  It was just a visual anyway since he never had any special skills.  I have heard from others that he does not even appear anymore.

 

And they do have near identical stats making the Vb IM only of value to a collector like me.

I heard rumors that Iron Maiden was in yet another copyright court battle and that is why Eddie disappeared.  I don't know but after the "Hallowed Be Thy Name" fiasco (expensive) it seems logical.

I never threw out my Toronto head shop purchased posters, although I had a "Somewhere in Time" full length door poster that's long gone...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anyhow, Eddie still shows up as the avatar in the IM spit no matter the pilot you place...at least for me...maybe it's cached if others don't see him still, but he showed up on another system I have here as well.

 

The puking Puma emblem has grown on me too...captures the essence of this game and publisher/studio to a T.

As this thread is veering towards the reality of aircraft development rather than the game itself, may I introduce you to www.air-war.org.uk which (I hope) will give you a wealth of information. It deals with two main areas: the contribution of the USAAF in the UK to 1945 and also the Battle of Britain. I would appreciate your constructive comments.

It's possible to HAVE, but I don't think it's possible to /acquire/ both any more, if you do not already have the Vb IM.  I don't think the IM will ever be available again.

 

EDIT:  Ignore me, you already have the IM.  yeah, you're golden if the Vb comes  back in the shop.
