...well, almost, anyway.

 

I did the special pilot marathon on NA and Asia clusters, and the P.1101 did almost every single task with great efficiency. Only for tasks that LFs cannot do (namely, Rocketeer, Flying Vanguard, and Flying Raider) I had to have another plane step in.

 

It can hold position well enough with massive firepower to get the defense kill it needs.

It is fast enough to chase non-spec'd (i.e. bots) heavy fighters for the HF kills it needs.

It mows things down fast enough to get the PP, capture points, sector capture, and damage it needs...it can even farm bombers decently. Not as well as J7W3 can, but its performance there is sufficient. While I did switch to J7W3 for the 200k damage task on NA I had no choice but to do it with P.1101 on Asia, it turned out better than expected.

Its overall performance is good enough to have a decent change at getting the Kozhedub it needs.

It being an LF has its entire chevron conditions tied to air kills, which it excels at, and makes it easier to get the Hero of the Skies it needs.

 

It'd be called derogatory names like Spitfire had there been more people at tier 10 and absolute speed is less of a meta...oh wait, isn't Spitfire itself a deragatory in WoWP context already?

The 1101 is probably the best LF in the game.

I have heard that the F-86 is, but I'll reserve judgement until I have one in my hands.

It's like a swiss army knife for mission completion. My Asia account's marathons was done almost solely with it.

 

The F-86A is a better dogfighter and better in actual air combat against enemy combat group, but I highly doubt that its six fifites can cream heavier targets the way 4x20mm revolvers do.

I tried to split my effort by flying planes to dailies but I gotta admit I went for the P.1101 a few times after already getting the daily.

You have to specialize it and kit it out properly or it is absolute garbage, just sayin'!  You should definitely put one in your hangar, though, I really want to know what you think of it! Hit me up when you get it and I'll show you what I put on mine!

Absolute garbage without specialization? Guess that depends on the skills of the pilot.

Very true!  I was up against a very very good pilot the other day.  So good I had to check their stats!  Only one plane specialized!  Everythang else they had had 6+ kills per sortie and was not specialized.  Absolute monster

great pilots still do well in unspecced planes          hoom is a ninja street fighter in his unspecced IL-1

 

i've always wondered... do unspecced planes really attract much less attention?        is it worth dropping spec just for that?

I have a couple of planes I fly unspecialized, on purpose.

 

I seem to do well enough in them that I don't immediately click the Specialist button.

Il-1 is Specialised now 

Only flown it once since though lol.

 

I intentionally fly Beaufighter non-Specialist because I think its better clean: no turret, no ordnance just guns & as much speed as I can get.

Anything else non-Specialist its because I haven't unlocked yet (or a couple of times cocked up messing around comparing stats )

Compared to specialized it is garbage. Specc'd for turn it will turn with tier 1s.
