I have to humbly admit I don't play too much any more...a lot of that comes from having those 1,000+ battles 'wiped out' a few years back with the total rewrite of the game.  Regardless, I find myself wanting to return to flying as opposed to tanking and sailing the seas.  Way back in Beta(...or Alpha maybe?) I did a lot of testing trying to make joysticks work.  I have always preferred them over a mouse for flight-simulating.

Are there any good ones or even decent ones that work with this game now?

You just have to set up all the bindings up yourself.  I've always used CH Products Fighterstick and Pro Throttle.  (I use throttle thumbstick for yaw/rudder rather than pedals)  The main problem with using joystick is that there is no free-look.

Logitech 3D Pro's work well. Thrustmaster T1600 M works good but I got a Shite one and customer service was no help. In fact, they sux. So intercourse them. YMMV. Right now I'm using a PXN 3D Pro knockoff from China and it's too sensitive. All the adjusting in the world doesn't seem to fix it. Apply a little yaw and it does a 180.

There's some info in this thread http://forum.worldofwarplanes.com/index.php?/topic/56644-joystick-post/page__fromsearch__1, including my brief review of the Saitek X52 and Thrustmaster T16000M HOTAS setups.

I have tried most of them if not all and found the Logitech 3D Pro to work the best for me. The Thrustmaster T1600 works ok but just doesn't hold up well I guess I'm just a little to ruff with it just make sure to get the extra warranty with what every you choose they all breakdown sooner or later its just that the logitech holds up pretty well and has a good fell

I have access to an older TopGun Thrustmaster/WCS mk II system.  I think I'll have my buddy send it on out and give it a try.

I have been using the Logitech 3D Pro,  other than I am on my 2nd one after 2 years of playing it has served me well.  I only go to the keyboard to send Bot commands.  I will eventually move on to using a HOTAS setup.

Play sporadically, and I use a now-kinda-busted 3d pro, switching soon to a thrustmaster - I cannot recommend the "snap to target" function bound to a hat switch direction, as well as mapping the most valuable free-look directions.
