How do you like this new iteration of this game mode, (Crimson Dawn)?

When choosing an attacker - bombers and ground attack planes, what do you default to?

As for the others who don’t know upon which side they will be flying, what are your favorite default plane picks?

My favorite so far is the Mustang I.

Bombers:  the Strongholds have lots of armored structures, so you want chunky sticks of bombs to deal with them.  American bombers and the He-111 have performed well for me.  In theory, something with rapid reload to get two passes in (Ju-88A, A-26) might also work.

Fighters:  you want speed, altitude and consistent firepower.  This mode really shines for heavy fighters, you can't go wrong with just about any HF.

my opinions, based on my experiences.  yrmv.

Su-10. This thing is hilarious. I can attack strongholds and enemy interceptors with almost equal effectiveness. This mode might actually be good for grinding specialization progress in the Su-10 because the time between waves helps neutralize the Su-10's biggest unspecialized weakness which is its long, long, long bomb reload and with enemy fighters and heavies constantly distracted between shooting at you and shooting at your bombers, you can take the opportunity to shoot at them in turn or fly like a Defiant and zoom under them as they fly straight and level attacking your bomber flights and just shred them with your tail guns.

XF-90. Again, this is a great plane for this mode. I recently unlocked it and I was grinding for specialization. Zoom in, kill stuff, keep going. Easy.

In the mid-tiers, I liked the Ki-102. Its just easy mode stomping bombers and anyone trying to protect them.

But a truce to this mournful story

For death is a distant friend

So here's to a life of glory

And a laurel to crown each end

a slow heavy with a tanky build and a big sniper gun      the Tu-1 is perfect

but...   between the bomber's tailguns and every bot and human glued to my butt, i've never died as many times in one battle in years

Yak 30 was the most productive plane I flew in the event, once I realized farming is the whole point.

Ki-102

As I'm not ready for tier VII, I fly what I have "mastered"...or seem to.

Got the ACE award in it today as a escort.

Above average with the BF 109 F.

I have been flying my T8 HFs.  The premium ones, for the BUCKETS of silver and XP.

I had some wild runs on Tier 7 FW190's of all planes..... I tried swapping out some pilot skills temporarily for the "Adrenaline Rush" skill for this event, as normal the skill stopped lighting up after every kill but I think it was still working :honoring:

For me, mostly my Spitfire Ia (it's specialized).  I started with my Blenheim F (also specialized) and found it to be quite satisfactory in the bomber escort mission (got 35K points in the first battle).

I've noticed a lot of what seems to be very new (less than 20 battle) players joining in the fun flying T5 premiums.   I almost feel guilty shooting them down (though I'm no veteran or expert myself at less than 1,000 battles).

I've enjoyed the "new" battle style as I've only seen the default Conquest modes since I started over the summer.
