In update 2.1.2 it said there is new experimental equipment.
  • Experimental Turret Armor Protection (Period I, II, III)
  • Experimental Polished Skin (Period I, II, III)
  • Experimental Bolt Carriers (Period II, III)

Is this equipment supposed to be in the crimson dawn event crates?  Is there a list of what can be found in these crates?  I got the ops order for the F5F but other than that I haven't got anything special in the crimson dawn crates.  I have a bunch of gold and I'm trying to figure out if it is worth buying more of these crates but if all I'm going to get is stuff like reinforced skin there is no point.

Also what is new about experimental bolt carriers?  How are they different from the experimental bolt carriers already in the game (special projects of the USA)?

I got a period 1 experimental polished skin from one of my 7 crates in phase 1.  Whoop-dee-do.  No planes (besides the operation orders).  100 gold from the very first crate, then no more.  A supposed 3 point gunner that only shows as 1 point in my barracks.  Maybe some of the other parts I got were experimental, but I must've been soo excited to get them that I forgot to read the fine print.  I will not be spending any gold for more crates and won't be busting my *** for more in the event like I did yesterday, as the special crates aren't that special.  I think I'll use the next bomber escort phase for grinding more planes up to spec and collecting the easy gold for part 1.

The content of the crates is listed here

The difference between the standard equipment and the experimental equipment is as follows:
1. Experimental Turret Armor Protection
Decreased negative effect on maximum speed with boost activated: -0,8% instead of -1%.
-3,04% instead of -3,8% when fully enhanced.
2. Experimental Bolt Carriers
Decreased negative effect on accuracy of forward-firing offensive armament:
-1.5% instead of -3%.
-11.3% instead of -15.6% when fully enhanced.
3. Experimental Polished Skin
Increased positive effect on acceleration while diving:
+3% instead of  +2%
+11.8% instead of 10% when fully enhanced.
Decreased negative effect on maneuverability in turns:
-0.5% instead of   -1%
-3.3% instead of   -3.8% when fully enhanced.

One question here - how does a player get this experimental equipment?

Ooof, I bought 2 to try it out and just got parts/materials and regular period 2 equipment.  They seem simliar to the usual weekly "unique" crate, but not as profitable.

That's what I did.  I flew a lot of crap that I don't really like to fly to farm kills.  Knocked out my Mosquito, Mosquito 26 and Ki-88.  I unlocked some planes too, finally got the Me-410 and the Ki-102.

Currently it is available only as one of the special crates' reward.
