Calling on all experienced pilots for input.

Please share your experience and success for this map.

I would like you to share your various WINNING strategies for this map.

Yes this is a low tier map, occasionally and very rare for tier 4 pilot.

However this is for the new players and those that often fly tier's 1-4.

On this map there are no Command Centers, Military Base or Mining Plants.

I am trying to build a discussion around this particular map and the tactics you would use.

For the new pilots that may visit the forum for help.

If you could tell us what works for you in the various planes you have flown for the win.

Spoiler

If I spawn on the Left side ( green arrow ) of this map i simply head to the Northern Airfield.

Then East to the garrison and and South to the enemy Airfield.

If I spawn on the East side ( red arrow )  I simply go clockwise.

Southern Airfield, enemy Garrison, then North to enemy Airfield.

The bots will normally already take the garrisons.

I usually shuttle back and forth between the garrisons and hope I have a modicum of luck with bots/players on my team.  Anytime I see a map with more airfields than garrisons (or equal amounts) and no other types of bases I know I will need a bit of luck.

Generally speaking, I'll be headed for the Garrisons if I'm flying a heavy (Wilk or Fw 57) or GAA.  If I'm in a fighter, the airfields are a better choice.  With the low speeds of the Period 1 planes, the ability to spawn in an airfield is often a very nice thing.

If I fly my FW-57 or Ao-192, I am flying straight through a garrison to an airfield.  On my way through the garrison, I drop my bombs.  I am trying to use my speed advantage to get to the "enemy" airfield in time enough to disrupt the capture.  60% of the time, it works every time.

good pro tip from a good pro!

for the benefit of new bombers, why would a bomber want to see a map full of garrisons vs a map with airfields/airbases?

and conversely, why would a new pilot choose to fight a little harder to defend an airfield from capture?       if the other caps are CCs?        if the other caps are rocket bases?

Quite simply, a bomber or GAA can flip a garrison just by leveling all the buildings.  Not so with an airfield.  There you need a plane shoot down in addition.  Or hang around (not a good idea) until the airfield respawns enough buildings to whack it again.

The only airfield cap I can see value to winning is a central airbase with a repair facility.  There a light fighter can camp and slaughter bots as they come in.  If there is a Military base around, however, that would be preferable to camp on.  It's another bomber for your side that never misses.  The CC is more iffy.  Late in the game it can be completely irrelevant except for the 3 points you get.  If taken early though, and defended successfully it can be a game changer.

I should add that Mining Plants are meat and potatoes for a bomber.  Consider carefully though if there is a Military Base present.  If I know my team mates are good I will take off for the Mining Plant  If unknown to me, my target will be the Military Base.  Reason being, those rockets will quickly melt that Mining Plant to red.  The CC is less of a dilemma.  Those strategic bombers are so slow that you should get at least 1 point boost (80) before they can flip it.

i find the humans on the other team and try to make them as upset with me as possible so they can't focus on anything other than where i am.

i keep it up for the entire game, and let the bots do the work.  this strategy can be applied to any map.

muh ha ha ha

Assuming that each grid is lettered top to bottom & numbered left to right,

In the German Arado 64 I usually dogfight above the central ridge and shoot down any planes before they get to an area. The mining bridges at G11 provide good cover.

In the American P-12 I go for the airfields first unless the lighthouse garrison is active. When it is, I climb to high altitude then dive-bomb the USN Fletcher at M6 because killing it typically gives you control. Don't try this in a plane that's not American-unless it's a dedicated dive-bomber.

In the Gloster Gamecock with bombs & the TSh-2 I stay low and go for ground targets, picking one axis of strafing & staying on it. I often go through-not over, through-the railway yard to make myself harder to hit. If you do this, watch out for others doing the same & this one tower that I think is only there for you to crash into.

In the Nakajima Type-91 I dogfight above the ocean and look for multiple targets to attack in one pass. Attack upside down to disengage more easily.

Yikes, the wiki still had this map listed as "Harbour." I just changed it.

You go to the closest sector, take it, and look to where you need to go next depending on where your team is winning or losing.  Your decision hinges on what the map looks like after you take that first sector.  In fact, your decision as to where you need to go next, or what human you need to hunt, all depends on what the map looks like and the speed and/or category of plane you are flying and who you are flying against.  Sometimes you have to decide if you go for ADA in a sector, or that pesky really good human in the sector, or if you just need to leave an unconquered sector for easier takings.

The answer to this map has to do with what you are flying and its purpose and mission.
