Tier 10 planes: the end of the line. There isn't anything to grind through to with these, they either stand or fall on their own merits. So, which ones are worth getting? Which aren't worth the XP or credit grind? Any tips on how to fly them?

Like:

F-86A fast, turny, burninating, classic Korean war plane.

La-15 no great strengths but no major weakness, also my first T10.

I-215 king derp with twin 57mm.

MiG15-bis fast, a bit derpy, classic Korean war plane.

Don't hate:

Il-40P haven't played it much yet, seems solid but its not really aesthetically pleasing, may sell.

Swift its fast & fairly agile, twin Adens can do a lot of damage if you get your lead & heat management sorted.

Hunter I wanted to like it more than I did because its one of the great '50s UK classics, had to build it with lots of Turn emphasis to feel right, with quad Adens it puts out amazing damage.

Javelin also classic UK '50s styling, quad Adens with really long heat cycle but often frustrating to play as the guns are split out on the wings & the big T tailplane gets in the way of crosshair a lot, currently experimenting with G-suit on it, promising results.

Hate:

Yak-30 too slow & altitude limited, La-15 has same firepower with better altitude, speed & not much inferior turn.

Su-10 I just don't enjoy Bombers in current meta, some success after recent rebuild for durability so may become a like.

Others I've not yet played.

of the three tier ten planes that i have, i like them all.

pretty simple..

i don't like you, however

Surprisingly enough i have actually enjoyed playing tier 10

The few i have.

Prior to 2 point respawn participation trophy irritating iteration of World of Warplanes

I really did not like flying the jets or heavies.

I preferred the lower tiered " dogfighters "

You know the ones. The 2 wings and a prayer with the pilot shooting his pistol out the cockpit.

The new WOWP is more forgiving with the respawn. Now you can miss, ram, respawn.

Before, not so much. Before it was miss, ram and wait 15 minutes.

Of course lets not forget the reloads of rockets and bombs.

I guess over all despite what my individual aircraft battle count is per plane.

The Japanese J7W3 series would be my favorite tier 10.

As for the rest of them. I stink in anything I fly.

If you don't have any in that question then you don't (dis-)like them, right? Try "none of the above".

So, I only have the F-86, Il-40P, Me-1102B and Swift. I voted to like the first three and dislike the Swift.

F-86 - great performance at super high altitude, great speed, decent turning, but the guns are wimpy, wimpy, wimpy

Il-40P - Exactly what you would expect, great durability, slightly below average speed, awesome bombs and rockets, decent guns, but I wish they had more range

Me 1102B - Amazing speed for a GA, decent durability, and four good bombs. The guns are a little tough to get used to because the range is a lot shorter than the guns on the tier 9. They do have a much faster rate of fire, though.

Swift - I really, really want to like this thing, but it is taking so long to get used to it. I have trouble getting the guns on target. Also, I'm more used to the turn and burn style of game play and the swift is all vertical Boom and Zoom.

The only really bad plane at Tier X is the Fw 252. Seriously, it's a bad version of the Swift, and most people don't like the Swift (I very much like the Swift tho).

I know this is about Tier X's but don't forget the grind. Some grinds are more enjoyable than others no matter the last plane.

I don't understand why everyone is hating on the Yak 30. Its the most maneuverable plane at tier 10 yes?

The only reason I could guess is most players are spray and pray. You can not do that with the Swift.

I am learning how to fly it now.  You got to tap that rigger like you tap that.........well this is a PG game.

I do not have the Yak yet but looking forward to learning it.

I absolutely hate seeing one flown by a competent player.

In a tier where most planes are darting around up 1000km/h at high altitudes a 900km/h top speed & 1500m yellow altitude severely hurts its ability to be useful.

Absolutely. I'm within reach XP and credits-wise of adding twelve tier 9's in the next two weeks (I grind a bunch of lines evenly). Which ones I end up playing the most will probably be a combination of what's the most fun and what has the most promising destination.

I'm not sure what to think about these results so far. It seems that many planes have as many likes as dislikes. As well there doesnt seem to be any clear winners at tier ten. Some people even rather indicated that they dont even like high tier in general.

I dont have any tech tree tier 8s yet, let alone 10s. But I am left here wondering if tier ten in this game is even worth going for. Many of you players dont seem to play tier ten that much. Your most played planes on many of your accounts seem to be tier 4 to tier 6. Considering how easy it is to get past tier 6 then I can only surmise that most players see high tiers in this game as a waste of time. What gives? I am used to the other games where people grind hard to tier ten and then mostly play high tier ships and tanks. Here it seems the opposite.

Tier 10's meta has been the most ground-centric of all the tiers and has also been the most unstable hence the likes being all over the place and fewer people playing.

At this point, tier 10 is dominated by the EF131 meta which makes flying it an absolute pain. Imagine the Hakuryu meta in WoWs after the rework or the t10 arty wars back in the tanks of old (you know, entire teams of t10 arty with just a half dozen tanks between them)

That's World of Warplanes tier 10 in a nutshell. Also, tier 10 has almost zero turn meta. Its all speed and altitude which fits a very different breed of player, which is also why the Yak-30 is rather controversial. Good plane, shame about the speed and altitude.

Tier 6 is probably the most balanced tier of the game where no one class really dominates to the exclusion of the others hence why it's the most popular. Tier 5 has a number of umber-meta fighters that easily take on tier 6 so people are also comfortable at that tier.

I don't personally have any interest in T10.  I'm kind of ashamed to say with as many games I have, I'm not even close to having a T10 unlocked.  I think I have 2 or 3 T9s, some of which I have never even flown.  I rarely even think about owning them, let alone flying them.  The planes that I am most interested in from a historical perspective are the planes that started the war, and fought early.  Hurricanes, Spitfires, P-40s, Wildcats, 109E and F, FW190s...those are the planes that really interest me.  I'm fortunate that the planes that interest me most, are found in the tiers I enjoy the meta in the most (5 and 6).  Turn fighting is still fairly viable, but so is energy fighting.  I don't run into jets very often and have no interest in them.

 Guilty :hiding:

We had a thread back late 2018 of top ten most played planes, I was shocked at how many T3/4 I had in it so I put in a significant effort to boot most of them out, still got 3 there & it'll be some time before any of those get booted out.

For my part its not dislike of T9/10 gameplay: of the 3 WG games I find WoWP high-tier gameplay by far the most fun.

Unlike the boring camp-fests where you insta-die if you break cover in the other two, WoWP gameplay gets fast.

You get closing speeds potentially up to about 2400km/h, combined with high-dps but short burst-length guns, smarter bots & trend to less agility it makes for very short engagement windows & wild cross-map rolling/scissoring/cork-screwing tail-chases, it gets pretty intense.

Its not great for those with low fps.

As mentioned, Specialist player Bombers/GA can be really hard to shut down & if you don't they will out-cap you.

I fully intend to spend more quality time in my T10s & select T9s some time in the future.

Thing is you buy a T10, its got maybe a gun upgrade or some ordnance to research, maybe you fly it enough to Specialise, then what?

I still have a heap of other planes to research so I'll go start a new line or fly a lower-tier keeper plane that I haven't finished Specialising.

I'm actually T8 or 9 on every other line now so I hope time to play T10s more is fairly near, albeit I've also been spending a lot of time Specialising up re-purchased planes & various Premiums.

Part of it is play opportunity.

I spent longer than average staying down in T3-5 when I started & for a long time had relatively few planes, played them all daily so those early planes got a lot of play time.

Now I'm up to 113 planes in hangar, 80 of them Specialist & I probably play less games/day so the chance that I'll chose to play any one of them other than the ones I'm grinding/Specialising at the moment is pretty low.

In addition to SFM's comment I would like to add :

Personally my most played planes revolve around the daily missions,

the ease of which to complete the given task.

Spoiler

All the grinding to achieve all tier 10's is just secondary.

Likewise, the bomber grind is also a 3rd subordinate goal.

I can only speak for myself and not others.

Also i rarely flight with people being more of a solo pilot.

One of the major drawbacks of the " daily Missions is the " MUST WIN " categories of struggle.

If it was not for the " MUST WIN " I am sure more variety of planes would be flown.

I just like the A-5. I enjoy being almost on par with Rei in it. I cannot say the same about any other plane so there's a big reason for me to keep playing it.

At tier 10, I've had the meta move out from under me multiple times so I'm a little jaded. When I started, the B.V.P.215.02 was my first ever tier 10 and I worked my [edited]off to make it a competitive hard carry plane despite what everyone told me at the time .Then, just as I'd locked it in (I'd even specialized it the hard way), gotten it to a place where I could confidently carry games in, Wargaming changed the meta - first they nerfed explosive damage against GAAs, meaning my 156 x R4Ms went from being able to exterminate two full HP IL-40Ps in a single reload cycle to barely being able to kill one removing at one go the single best thing about the B.V.P.215.02. Then they nerfed turrets because of the B-32 holocaust which reduced the B.V.P.215.02's already weak turret from niche to completely useless. Even then I persevered until they introduced the Hunter.

The Hunter is more maneuverable, more agile, has better acceleration and superior firepower AND ordnance compared to the B.V.P.215.02 and with the proper equipment is almost as fast and durable by virtue of simply being smaller and harder to hit. And it didn't suffer from the explosives nerf in exterminating tier 10 GAAs. It basically took the B.V.P.215.02's niche and kicked it out, rendering my beloved monster to complete irrelevance. The final nail in the 215.02's coffin was the proliferation of Specialized XF-90s. You really can't do anything against a Spec XF-90 headhunting you in the 215.02. The Hunter on the other hand can easily evade and engage and only needs a couple of lucky hits to put down an XF-90. So I focused my effort on the Hunter.

And then they introduced the EF-131 and Su-10 and the Hunter went from hero to zero and I was once more left with a plane that had been obsoleted by the meta. At this point I'm slowly working my way to mastery of the Gloster Javelin but after having two planes effectively snatched from me by changes in the game, I have very little interest in flying tier 10 anymore. Especially with the cancer that is two specialized EF131s on Alpine Gambit - Day of Reckoning. I have a specialized Su-10 and mein gott is that thing broken as hell. Tier 10 is just pure cancer at this point. Bomber swarms and the heavy fighter flocks to counter. I mean, why bother playing when any two idiots in Spec EF-131s can just orbit at 4.5km over the two mining plants and capture them every 30 seconds?

***

But a truce to this mournful story

For death is a distant friend

So here's to a life of glory

And a laurel to crown each end

I'm wondering how many people "dislike" planes that they don't have simply because they don't like running into them in-game.  :amazed:

I shall use my aircraft and my skill to slightly inconvenience mine enemies.

i'm not a high tier guy, i just don't have the brain horsepower to contribute reliably         i have several 10s and a bunch of 9s, but i rarely fly them

for years, i was adamant about jets in ww2 battles at all        blatant mission creep        jets (and biplanes) just don't do it for me         ymmv

give me T4 through T8, carve it out like a Bachelor in Paradise spinoff, and call it "Warplanes' Golden Age"       i would never miss the jets     at all

You'll have to pry my RB-17 from my cold dead hands!
