Yesterday I decided to grind the I-211 and unlock the I-215. I ended up selling the darn thing and free XP my way to the I-215. I hope it will be worth the credits.

The I-211 is pretty rough, yes. Its like a worse Ta152 - the guns have better heat cycles but deal relatively lower damage for their tier, the plane itself can pull off some Su-9 shenanigans but the tier 9 - tier 10 environment is a lot more unforgiving of this.

The I-215 is a lot better. Its heat cycles are phenomenal for a sniper plane, both in burst length and cooling speed. Range is gigantic as is alpha. It feels a lot easier to hit with and, as noted, the much more generous heat cycles mean that you can throw shells downrange at and appreciable pace. Performance is still in the same range as the I-211 but with better engine thrust making it feel a lot more sprightly in the air. It is still just an airborne weapons platform though - don't let anyone on your tail or you're going to be in trouble.

Also I'm told that with both damage bonuses on, the Russian Special Project Long Gun Barrels allow the I-215 to one-shot light ground targets like a GAA.

But a truce to this mournful story

For death is a distant friend

So here's to a life of glory

And a laurel to crown each end

I actually enjoyed the I-211.

The first 2 guns shoot fast with fairly short range, group pretty nicely & then the top guns I just sort of shot in the general direction of enemy & landed a surprising amount.

It gave me confidence to proceed to I-215

I-215 is king derp with the twin 57mm & notably better speed :playing:

Ta-152 is the troublesome one for me: good performance but most of my shots don't land, even the ones that clearly hit mostly just disappear.

C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas le SerB.

At the risk of being a contrarian, I quite like both the Ta-152 and I-211.  The Ta-152 is my premiere shiggles (it's a portmanteau) plane when I just want to have some fun.  Pure assassin.  So long as no human singles you out to die.  Then you're humped in either.

i like it, too     it's not like i do well in it, but i just love to fly it             would love to see an all-Ta battle somehow, both teams flying it

wait, we could do that in Sat Nite Live, this coming weekend!          who's got an dusty Ta sitting in the back of their hangar?
