I know you're not going to believe this because it doesn't happen very often, but the chat system is down again.

I'm sure it must be something minor since WG stays on top of these things.

I think maybe a complete overhaul of the chat system needs to be done.

With more and more people wanting to play WOWP, communication would be greatly appreciated.

What do you think WG? Is it possible for you to do something about this?

Just a thought....

Last weekend for the event chat was down, now another weekend - chat down once more.

May be at the chat company office some janitor unplugs the chat system for the weekend by accident.

For almost three years now I have been playing this game.  It was an ongoing problem from way before my time according to people who had been on it for a long time.

They didn't fix it then and they won't fix it now.

Tonight I have had one battle after another where I or a team mate got the Endless Queue of Death or was disconnected from the battle.

They haven't fixed that either and they won't.

The MM has been bonkers tonight.  I had one battle where my 3 opponents won even though they came in at the 10th, 11th, and 12th positions on their team.  Shortly after, I won a battle where my 3 opponents came in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd on their team with 4 stripes apiece.  What in the heck is going on?!?!

Is nobody home?

I think the problem is that they are all home and no one is around to reboot the server.

My suspicion:  The chat server is on a poorly allocated Virtual Machine that gets overloaded due to lack of resources.  This means that it gets saturated and dies whenever a lot of activity occurs.  Thus, why it tends to fail on events and weekends.  They should be able to reboot it remotely.  The observation that it happens mainly during events or other high activity times, to me, indicates it does not have enough resources (RAM, processors, etc.) allocated.  That, or it's a 16-bit chat client running on an old Windows 98 machine.  Either way, I don't think if's a software glitch given the way it happens at times of relatively high demand.

Just my $.02.

I tend to agree with you. The server is on an old 286 and there is no one there to change the floppy.

Maybe WG has shut down the live chat to prevent the spread of Co-Vid19.

This may introduce more bugs into the system.

It's been too long to laugh at that.. We play harder than they work!. And I have not been playing much at all.. I refuse to play a broken game & you have to say it is broken.

nope, it's caused by ransomware and they won't pay the $8 that the hackers are demanding

I don't blame them, they've already negotiated them down to $7.72 after seven days

just a joke, WG       just... a... joke...

Well, how do you all like that?. They update the launcher again & no chat working.. Looks like they incorporated cache cleaner into the launcher.. But still seem to have no handle on the chat problem.. Try again.

When you launch the game you see a box that does a quick flash same way the cache cleaner did.. Can you see it?. I assume that is what it is.

not taking that chance        but i will watch for that box, brother

i would have guessed that they would have removed the 'clear cache' in the dropdown, but it would make so much sense that they would have incorporated it in there

I wish they hadn't made it automatic.  I sometimes like to look at past battles when I return to the game and now that option is gone.
