So, I have not been playing this game for long, but I do enjoy it even though there are those matches that cause the old face palm, but that is the same on WoTs and WoWs. Anyway...

 

I know that the MM and other balancing issues have been argued ad nauseum on this forum, nonetheless, I thought of suggestion or two that could help with the gameplay.

 

 

1. To start off, I noticed that the maps from T-IV to T-VII seem to have too many objectives. With how the bots function and majority of players fly, perhaps the maps can be re-adjusted by keeping the objectives down to three or less. Now, this ought to be done without shrinking the playable area of the map, this would allow bombers, heavies and B&Z fighters to make their flight over an objective and then give them their space to get out of the zone and then move on to the next or turn around and hit it again without being completely jumped on by the turn fighters, ADAs and AA. I believe this would also help the slow GAAs. Now to help the turn fighters, perhaps the size of the zone could be increased in size.

 

I do believe this would make the games be a bit more competitive as the bots would contribute more as their would be less options for them, forcing them onto less objectives, which in turn would keep more veteran players on their toes.

 

 

2. Many of the veteran players here want a PvP mode, which would be great and I certainly would play it. On the other hand, perhaps a Co-op mode where players can just play the bots, would work, much like on WoWS. In this mode, the MM can either mirror the planes of the players for the bots (like in WoWs) or at least match by tier. I think this would be a fun mode for new players to learn and regulars to blow off some steam by smacking bots. Also, it would help players gain experience while tweaking and learning on their planes with less frustration from getting smacked by specialized planes from more veteran players and gain plane/pilot experience at the same time.

 

Now, to not make that mode too easy, perhaps the amount of hostile ADAs could be increased while the friendly ones could be decreased, which should make players cooperate/strategize a bit more.

 

 

With that said, any thoughts on how these might work, or perhaps some other suggestions?

1.  I don't think that fewer objectives is a good idea.  The game's already campy enough, encouraging Spitfires and Zeroes to camp an objective and FORCE people to fly into the camp fest is not going to help.

2.  I don't think any further splitting of the players is a good idea.  A PvE mode would probably be like ships, where you get /significantly/ less rewards, which would likley FORCE people into a full PvP mode that frankly, most pilots are not equipped to handle.

I like the mix of 3, 4, and 5 cap maps as it currently is.  You never know what you are launching in to.

 

And we already have a Training Mode you can fool with whenever you want.

Perhaps, but in sometimes the Spits and Zeroes do worse with more planes in the objective. I notice the turn & burns do much better when enemy planes trickle in. The camping works better with more objectives than less. I also suggested this to help make the bots more useful, they tend to aggro better when engaged with more opponents. Or that is what it seems to me.

 

For the second point, the less experience on the Co-op mode is not necessarily a bad thing. I bet most players would rather have less "rewards" rather than a frustrating PvP experience. Co-op is more fun and relaxation, while at the same time, still playing the game at some potential.

Reducing complexity would just make it faster for the good players to beat you.
 

There's no question or doubt about that as far as I am concerned.

Even without increasing the # of nodes, I think increasing the # of points would vastly change a lot of games. Not sure about upping points at -low- tiers.. but at high tiers deffo.

Then again, I'd be a fan of all of them being longer.. BGs that took 40+ minutes in World of WarCraft were my favorites.
