Yes, it's haughty and its arrogant but you're a battleship with 16 inch guns and Britannia Rules the Waves.  Maybe a bit of arrogance in this case is appropriate.

Looks like an overgrown XP-72 with worse climb in exchange for more guns and a bigger silhouette.

stats say somewhat turny-er than a pancake, but it's not like I have the ability to sense the difference.

a bit more fragile and noticeably slower.      fourteen 50 cals, so it was built for me

it's a 'light' heavy, so I bought it.        have fun shooting at me

It's more like two Mustangs glued together.

Wait ... that sounds kind of dangerous.  Maybe you should fly it first while I take cover.:great:     :hiding:

I got it... I'm.. mildly astounded. The paper stats lie. This plane, really isn't the best at anything.. but somehow makes a niche for itself in being -good enough- at -everything-. It's like a super heavy MRF... I kinda like it and retract my jealousy of Trikke lol :P

dammit.   I won't have a chance to fly it until just a few minutes before SNL tomorrow evening...   dammit

you can be sure that SNL will be hosting some T8 heavy battles, unless I get overruled by FW

btw, for no particular reason...  has anyone seen any news from FW about hosting?

It's a dream, IF:

There aren't any Do-335s around.  It's pretty frah-gEE-lay.  That's Italian for "breaks if you look at it funny."

Otherwise, I loved how it flew.  Like a T8 Bf-109Z, really.  Except with 14-freakin'-.50 cal hoses of death.  DAMMMMMMMMMN.

My XP-58 would wreck this, no fibbing, but... and there -is- a but.. This plane is just tons of fun and unless you're running against a stacked meta flight there -is- a way you can fly it in any given match to pull out a win as far as I can tell. Can't say I am the best at it yet.. it's such a different play style than I normally run. It's -beginning- to remind me of the Mosquito but with decent climb and altitude for its tier instead of junk stats on those two things. Probably just because it only has forward weapons and a pretty solid ordnance loadout and that brickgility factor.

I remember this plane being mentioned as being an upcoming refer a friend type reward. Has that been thrown out the window or will we be able to earn it later? I don't have $60+ to drop on a single plane, but I do have friends I could convince to play the game.

three tries, finally got a win    it took KAIM on my side to get that win, but i was 2nd place

def not a hard carry plane, but i like it!       i'm not a sniper, so fourteen 50 cals fit my needs           i set mine up as a turner, def will reconsider that

I wish I had the money to get this plane. 60 USD is a lot of money for pixels, even considering how much work it takes to make them.

An average player with an average goal: greatness, someday. Today, mediocrity will have to suffice. But no matter, I will always play to the best of my ability, and I will always strive to make the best of my ability just that little bit stronger and better.

I'm thinking of getting it but which bundle to get? Are the two other P51s worth it or take chances with the unique supply crates?

Flown it for a bit. Is it worth $60? Doesn't feel like it, but it was my Christmas present to myself so I'm ok with that. It's a bit too slow, it's altitude limit is ridiculously low compared to other T8's. Good luck trying to take out other prem heavies, they'll just run. Good luck trying to take out RB17s or T9 bombers, they're too fast or too high.

But good lord is the bullet spam amazing. IF (and that's a big if) you can get on something's tail, and manage to stay there, it WILL die. Low flying bombers melt. Fighters melt. Heavies melt. If you can slow down enough, GA's melt. And it has a decent load of ground attack. Its enough to knock out the main plant building in one pass and then boost up an knock out a TU then whatever GA shows up to flip the point in the beginning.

It's FUN. It's not great at anything (unless you can get right up on their hopefully non-turreted A**) I totally get that there's a "point pool" that you get to choose from that covers guns, bombs/rockets, survivalist, airspeed, maneuverability, & altitude. And sacrifices must be made in some areas to keep a plane from being ridiculously overpowered. The equation for this plane just feels off. It's still fun and if you have Christmas bonus money burning a hole in your wallet by all means, pick it up. I got it for the cool factor. I wanted one since I first found out about a twin mustang but me it will probably be relegated to a hanger queen. There are better credit earners. The Vampire, The batwing, and the XP-58 will all out earn it. But I'm ultimately ok with my purchase. (and I picked up the 3pack for an extra 4 bucks because why not so I now have the t6 mustang I and Ia to fool around with as well).

TL-DR Worth it for the cool/fun factor. Not worth it for the performance alone, there are better planes to spend your cash on if you're looking for a credit earner.

Nice write up very helpful! I may pick up the three pack then, I have a ton of gold but of course can’t use it on this. What other tier 8s are good for credit earning?

Dropped the bombs, kept the rockets, put pylons on, shoved a g-suit built for altitude on it, and shoved my good American MRF pilot into it (13 points).

Now it carries. I even toasted off a few player XP-58s. Not anyone real good at the XP-58, but the fact I could even beat a bad or mediocre one toe to toe without sneakiness was mildly a surprise. The only -really- difficult to down planes in it seem to be the Ho, J8M, and the IL-20. The banshee is also somewhat difficult.. but I feel like all of them are still "soft" counters to the P-82B. Is it a "hard carry over everyone else" plane? No. It's not the new game breaker that can override all other planes. There's a difference between carry and broken though.

WG, I'm proud of you. You released a strong -and- balanced plane that actually works!

Side-note: It plays with stall turns very well and it climbs like mad for something with ordnance weighing it down.

Editing to add second side-note: None of the rockets fire dead on center due to how spread they are. They also file alternating order slightly high and slightly low. I've not written the order down, but getting innately used to the differences in the aim points for them. Once you hit that point you can actually pin-point rocket other planes to death, the bigger ones specifically. Still haven't pulled a golubev out yet, but I have gotten four rocket kills in one game with it. Unfortunately it was 2, then I died, then 2 more. LOL
