I love using boosters.  They really do boost your earned XP when the game is acting right.  (Which should be your first clue why I also hate them).  A good win can really accumulate crew XP, plane XP and free XP fast.  (Another clue).  An hour long booster can usually last for at least 5 battles.  When coupled with a 3XP or 5XP weekend they really move the needle for your crew skills, etc.

Why I hate using boosters can be simply boiled down to the fact they run in Real Time, not game time or battle time.  Just an hour ago I purchased three boosters for XP.  When I hit battle my hangar froze and I wound up having to reboot my comp.  Almost 15 minutes later I managed to get back to the game.  That 15 minutes cost me 2 battles and the gold I paid for the boosters.  Too bad, so sad.

Endless Queue?  Costs me 5 minutes plus the loss of points.  Disconnect after battle?  Costs me almost 10 minutes.  Yes, my comp is slow.  Real Life?  Costs me how long it takes.  Too bad, so sad.

Bad loss?  Not much gained even if you get a Hero but your tater team mates and bots are dying to get killed as fast as they can, inside the cap zone, of course.  Too bad, so sad.

Want to just grind a particular plane over and over?  Well you lose a lot of that XP multiplier after the first win.  A losing proposition in my not so humble opinion.

For these reasons I never use any boosters during normal 2XP days.  It just ain't worth it.  With the exception of the silver doubling booster which doesn't change regardless of how many XP multipliers there are.

I think maybe they are losing out here on a market that would increase if only the boosters ran on battle time instead of real time.  They could reduce the 1 or 2 hour time spans to compensate if they feel they must.  At least I would feel less cheated.

What do you think?  Do you use them?

Yes, but I would never purchase them. I only use ones I get for free.

Seriously?  10 minutes, 15 minutes, 5 minutes?  I just bombed out of the game three times on porpoise to test (sorry team) and my average time from total restart to back in game was 3:09 minutes.

If I Control-Alt-Deleted and killed the WOWP process, the results were much faster, say like 01:30 (minute thirty seconds).

Christmas time is here, time for a new computer homeslice. Build your own, you have the time.  It's pretty fun and a good learning experience.  Just get a good magnifying glass for those maddening case cables for hard drive LEDs, etc...

I use them, extensively. My only problem is I have to go AFK quite frequently. Insofar as your times... Jeezus.. I thought _I_ had a potato for a computer. You could use an upgrade :/ I'd heartily suggest a new computer. You deserve it Cap and you'd make good use of it. You might even find your enjoyment of the game increases significantly.

I used to build tower computers but I gave it up.  When you get to be 71 you will realize why.  It's not just the eyesight, though that is a biggie, it's also the loss of fine motor skills.

I suppose you are right.  But where would I be if we tossed out the old and obsolete stuff and replaced it all?  Out on my ear!  The only thing older than me around here is Grandma.  She turned 72 six weeks ago.  I still got two weeks of being a young 71.

Of course, there was a time when I considered replacing Grandma with a couple of younger, sleeker models but what's the point anymore?  I probably wouldn't live another two weeks.

Well, I have over 50 of the various XP boosters and I think around 75 of the silver boosters in my depot.  The problem is they are all for 2 hour periods and I rarely feel like playing that long in one continuous session.  It starts feeling like a job.  But if I take a break while a booster is active I feel like I am wasting them.  So there they sit in my depot, waiting for me to get younger and more motivated.

I used to build them as part of one of my jobs. I was more than happy to become a hand raising, tech support dependent, Neo Maxi Zoom Dweebie. I buy mine now. Exclusively.  :hiding:

I hear ya! Essential tremor does wonders for vibrato on a guitar, but it makes soldering cable connectors a royal pain. I had to start buying replacements instead of clipping the ends and fixing 'em.

Well.. I wouldn't replace the Person who has spent her life next to you.. that's different, she's a person. In this case, an upgraded computer would stand you in good stead.. and even if you -did- die two weeks later.. so what? You'd have had fun with it in those last two weeks and you can't take anything with you when you go... My Mom always used to say "Don't sit around waiting for death. ***!#(*(*'ll be along when he feels like, just like a cable repair guy."... and she was right as far as I've ever been able to tell.  Just my two cents :) I know if I could afford it, this potato I've got would get upgraded in a heartbeat.

I have no idea what boosters are, how to get them, what they can do or how to activate them...

the sheet metal is certainly sleeker, but the engine underneath is essentially the same

not to mention that newer models need a real specialist if they break down...  shade tree repairs are nearly impossible now

My advice is buy used.       it's much easier now to weed out the lemons        "show me the Carfax"?

So .... say I use a booster in tier 10 and I win. Do I go to tier 9, win, tier 8, win, and on down?  How far down in tiers do I go before the Xs 2 first win reward is less than higher tier booster reward?
