Hey there players. A funny thing happened to me on the way to the forum tonight (the poo doesnt post itself ya know) ... So I thought I'd share with the class.

A fellow player messaged me in Discord to get in the lobby. Didnt say which one and logged out before i could find him. (Thanks, Harry.)
Clan server was empty. But i decided that since i was there i might as well loiter around the WoWP server and see what happens while i fire up the game.
No one their either. So i leave a "anyone need a wing man " in chat and get on with grinding mats and pilot xp in low tiers.

Eventually some POORBOY[HVAR] takes me up on my offer and before you know it we are using one of the WoWP flight chats.
First words out of his mouth are " i can be an a$$hat sometimes. Please dont hold it against the rest of my clan."
Appreciating this refreshing bit of honesty I reply in kind, "Its all good. My bullets work just as well on you as they do on the red planes."
Jokes out of the way, the flight invite is joined. He picks tier 5 for starters.  P-40. Great!
It just so happens that i have one as well. Conveniently i was grinding the low tier premiums with the P-40 pilot anyway.  So everything is coming up Milhouse!

Battle commences. We are immediately(!) placed in a fight.
Details ...

an AN-GER-Y start
And the match goes on.

Rough going

When it was all said and done; in spite of the F4F driver coming in with 3 chevrons and 12900 PP, and a Bf109 driver with an 80% winrate.
Even though myself and my wingman each only scored 7-8k PP with 2 chevrons between us...

in the end we win by a rather comfortable margin. Thanks to good cap zone control and
harsh language plz dont forum ban me again

 TL;DR

WANNA GET GOOD? TEAMWORK IS THE BEST BUFF

And then the server restart happens and i dont remember to save a screen capture...
So this falls into the  "cool story bro" category.:(

Well done! :)  If it makes you feel better, this is how I feel when I edit a response a few times only for WarGaming's crappy code to eat it and leave me with a gigantic blank slate of nothing.  In the end, you won and it sounded epic.

It certainly was intense. But i wouldnt call it epic. There was a lot of back and forth, and giving as good as we were getting.
i spent some amount of time awaiting respawn. (which gave me time to study the battle map and adjust priorities)  and got ganked early after the squall line (me vs 3. but i took one of them with me).

I guess the moral of the story is that Flights can be amazing. Even Fun.
especially when you and some random pilot work well enough together that even two average joe performances combine into something greater than the sum of their parts.

I know right? I felt bad for this guy.
Less so for that guy in the Emile.

Maybe they had co ordinated better they would have crushed us bad.
But they did not.

Well, I would argue that the quality of the enjoyment is more important than the numerical quality of the game.  But, that's just me.

That is a good argument. And I certainly agree. I did have a great time. And that IS why I am here.
I also take a some measure of satisfaction by improving my skills in this game.

My team took the win with a comfortable 100+point difference. when odds were that we should not have.
That I had an important part in that upset also pleased me. Even when the numbers showed that as good as we did, there is still room for improvement.

I suppose that last bit is more on my mind because i saw this video beforehand.

Now THAT match was something i would call Epic without any reservations..

Except me. Because I CENSORED HATE how 100% machine gun armament treats me in this game.

I bought the P-40 back several weeks ago just to see if could get a nice handle of it, I ended up getting my rear end handed to me and sold it back. It is also why my FJ-1 is shelved in my Hangar. For some reason all machine-gun armaments just do not agree with me, yet in other players hands on certain planes, they can tear me to shreds... I don't get it and I likely never will.

Meanwhile I continue to rack up Akamatsu's and McCampbell's and X's and Y's and Z's in my Emil with relative consistency when flying alone or when flighted with another relatively competent pilot.
If you ask me where I go in my Emil, My answer is "Everywhere". :B

I have rediscovered how incredible it is.  I also am not a big fan of all-MG aircraft.

I love my 109 Bertram (refuse to call it Berta, since all of the other models are done using male names).  For some reason, I sold my Emil and am seriously frustrated with my Friedrich.  It is entertaining, looking at https://worldofwarpl...planes/compare/ that the gun armament goes from 9 (Bertram), to 15 (Emil), to 10 (Friedrich).  Granted, the added cruising speed and improved rate of climb are really nice, I find the damage output capabilities to be sorely lacking, versus the opposition.  The irony is that the Gustav comes back to tier-for-tier levels, near the Emil.  So, why is the Friedrich such a stinker?

It isn't, you just have to know the secret sauce.  Once you do, look out.  Repurchase your Emil - it is the king of mid-tier light fighters.

Be cause its the same reason for all the other tier 6 light fighters.  Usually the flight characteristics are such an improvement over tier 5 that their raw DPS takes a pretty solid hit from the Nerf Bat to maintain some semblance of balance.

That said; the guns you DO get are actually better than their tier 5 predecessors.
Usually in the form of better range or maybe they take longer to overheat and cool off faster when that happens. .
