Now, I understand that this is a small game, with a small dev staff.  I get that adding new planes is difficult because modelling them takes time.  There's a lot of planes out there though that are variations of things in game that could probably make some money, much like the S-199 did.  It's really only a BF-109G with some bombs and a different engine, plus the gun pods.  So why not a...109G with gunpods as a premium?  Stock fuselage, stock engine, 13mm MGs and gunpods, and it's a BF-109G-6.  I think a lot of people would be interested in the plane.

The kind of craptastic Mustang I?  Change out the 4 30 cals for an extra pair of 50's, 2 500 lbers and it's an A36 multirole.  Strip off 2 guns off the P40L and you can make it into a low altitude Gypsy Rose Lee turn fighter.  Or add some bombs and make it a fighter-bomber multi-role in the manner that it was usually used in the war.

How about a light fighter version of one of the most feared aircraft of the war, the FW-190?  The Butcher Bird should be just that.  A regular A6M3 Hamp, with the 20mm instead of the 30mm would be very welcome in my hangar.  Maybe the Merlin engined Spanish 109, the HA-1112.

These are all pretty low hanging fruit which are practically free development wise, yet might make the company some money.  Why not?

The playtesting for balancing and debugging might be more of a time consumer for them than the modelling...though WG "balancing" haha wink wink. Then the additions have to be uploaded to every game client out there.  They might have more time to work on fundamental things like airplanes if some of the events and missions and rarely used game modes were dropped.

Usually it's separate teams that do that kind of stuff.  Mostly though, the balancing should be pretty straight forward since they have data on most of the things out there.  Say they decide to make an A36.  They already have data on how 6 50 cal guns works at T5, 6, and 7.  They have data on how a Mustang flies at T6.  They know how much damage 2x 500lb bombs are going to cause.  In fact, the A-36 is basically a stock-ish Corsair.  Most of these are fairly easy projections.

if the pilot's good, see, I mean, if he's really..sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low [he spreads his arms like wings and laughs],

you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane like a '52. VRROOM! There's jet exhaust, fryin' chickens in the barnyard.

WG aren't concerned about balance in this game (and have never understood 3D air combat).

Planes like the Bf 109g with gun pods already exist. We had that plane with 30mm pods and f model with 20mm pods in beta.

We also had access to ordnance on p-51 and p-40, among others.

Also, regarding varying the type of strength a plane has (a fast zero or a turny fw or low altitude p-40), a year ago we were supposed to have "specialization 2.0" that allowes us to significantly reconfigure stats and performance of our favorite aircraft.
