Usually I don't have time for chit chat before the action starts, but I will occasionally give a "tally ho" to team mates or people I know. I kinda think it's in the spirit of the game.

I do it while the counter is counting down BEFORE battle. :)

I usually try to stay invisible, unless it's somebody I know

I like to tell everyone that I fly naked.

Not many still do this but I'm curious.

I salute every one pre-battle. Most don't anymore.

I don't wish them "gl (good luck)" or to "hf (have fun)" Because I don't want my opponents to have good luck and I don't particularly care if they have fun.

I use "<o". Some people seem to think that it is a left-handed salute but I look at it as a salute to everyone, not me standing behind a saluting guy. Some use i> or <i.

To me "07" is also me standing behind some saluting guy. Zorro uses <Z which is cool.

So is it only old faarts that do this, and is it a relic from the past?   :B

I occasionally do this, particularly with players I am familiar with / have a respect for.

For example if just YOU in particular were in a battle i was in, SkyWolf, i'd "o>" you directly.
If i know multiple players in a battle i am in i simply "o>" in general.

For me its like a "nod at your brother pilot" kinda thing.

Exactly.  Post battle, same thing.  I might "<o", or not, depending on who is in-game.

I saw a player (playa maybe?) who's in-game name was something like what you describe.  Wish there was a way to make the brown note in this game.

I'd pop one out if there's familiar name around...occasionally...

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

Giving a greeting pre-battle is cool. Saying "good game" when the game was hard fought.. cool (saying it at the end of a game when you obviously had the better team and you won because of it.. kinda smarmy and don't expect people to like it.)

As to the salute debate... I use the official A-S-S clan salute (@) if I like ya.

I would not have known what you meant by that.      I would have assumed the worse

but... I would have smiled at that, too

a full moon reflects much light

I'd imagine your smile would show

if the pilot's good, see, I mean, if he's really..sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low [he spreads his arms like wings and laughs],

you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane like a '52. VRROOM! There's jet exhaust, fryin' chickens in the barnyard.

That's exactly why I use it =D for those of us who remember the old depths of the internet it's got that double funny going.
