Oh, it's not because of the videos or the streaming.  I love that.  Funny commentary, good gameplay - I could waste hours.

No, it's because you show me the capabilities of planes that I have been ignoring. And make me want them. And then I have to fly the planes that precede them to get enough XP to get them.  And that's the part I hate.

Until just recently, I did not know that I wanted the Hunter.  Or the Ta-183.  Or the La-15.  Or the I-220.

Damn you, streamers and video posting people.  Damn you to hell.

Look at it as giving you goals.  Before the SE100, I didn't know I wanted the ME410.  Now I'm grinding towards that.  As the old afterschool specials go...."the more you know, the farther you go".  Or even better, "...And knowing is half the battle"

I'll put it this way: despite me getting an Efimov on a specialized Hs 129 A, I do not recommend anyone to try and fly that darned thing. If you need to experience it, watch the video, don't actually fly the plane, please!

The Mighty Duck is a Rite of Passage.

If you can not deliver the heat in a converted pre-war courier plane; then you can not take a place amongst the GAA Gods.

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is very hit or miss. Usually I start on the right track and then a make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...
And yet it doesn't stop me from speculation.

Are these last two posts referring to the Hs 129 B?  Because if so, that plane is very skippable in terms of the tech tree.

Yes, there are two paths you can go back

but in the long run

your stairway does not rely on the

129 B

Hs129A is the Duckling, not the Duck. Tier 4 premium GAA that's honestly terrible with the same bombload and firepower as the Ar197 but slower, less maneuverable and triple the HP.

Hs129B is the tech tree Duck. Its a decent GAA overall but still underwhelming in my opinion

I was indeed talking about the Hs 129 A "Duckling", not the Hs 129 B "Duck". The difference is that the Duck actually has a reason to exist, while the Ducking is statistically and practically the worst tier 4 GAA with no unique qualities :(

AH... then forgive me, I did not see an Hs 129 A anywhere in the tech tree and that's as far as my lazy self will take me.

Thought it was a typo or mistake.

Never heard of it and shall not seek it out although I do love underappreciated planes.

It's just hilariously bad. You have two 20mms, two 7.92s and four 50kg bombs which is less offensive power than the BSh-2, which is also faster than the Duckling with the same HP. The whole contraption is really just an excuse to meme on people. I've tried every bloody configuration on it and have never found one that might work. I mean, if it had a gun slot it might work as a firestarter but no.

For anyone wondering, here's the last video I made on it:

Spoiler

There, now you've seen all the Duckling has to offer.

Only had to watch 3 minutes of it to be frustrated to no end.  Crummy guns, low speed, lame bombs, what's not to love?

Exactly.

I love to fly it for the 'kill 200 AA guns' mission.

i'm with you, Corvus

but my secret shame is a lil bit different much worse than yours...   i watch videos of pilots that do so well in planes that i just cannot fly, and i umm see red

can't help it      so juvenile       so i try that plane again, get spanked again, yank the pilot and try to forget that i own it     again

and in person, i get to watch a master pilot fly ridiculously gimped planes and routinely double my score

it's just a game     it's just a game

+1

I watched a couple of Swift videos.  I want it.  BUT:  I refuse to go down the Spitfire line.  I already own three premium Spitfires, two from giveaways.  The Spit V DB605 is bad enough.  The Spit Ia with its special pilot is just plain WRONG.  The Iron Maid Spit is amusing, but meh.  Now, to think about grinding the tech tree all the way to the Swift seems completely and totally, well, jerk-like.  The La-15 and the Mig-15 and the Yak-30 all seem reasonable, and the XF-90 for sure.  But I'm just not very excited about flying top-tier airplanes vs. bots these days.  I like playing against actual people.  They force me to think about how I play, instead of how to defeat a programmed bot.  I have had a couple of battles recently where I decided to do stuff that bots would allow, but that you just can't do with humans on a map.  LOL.

In any case, the Swift looks fun.  But the grind up, with Spitfires?  So cheesy.

With you there 100%. I joined this game with the goal to get all the Tier 6 planes and then play what I like from there. When I saw Spitfire unbalance and ubiquitousness, I crossed them off the list. I've since decided to also avoid Zeroes due to their slowness and Bombers for... for at least the time being.

Videos convinced me that the IL-10 and Me265 were worth the Tier 6 black holes that are the IL-2(t) and Ju88P grinds. Not sure it was worth it (especially the lackluster Ju88P), but it's done. That I-220 is the only other tier 7 that's really calling my name... But I hope to get back to just playing whatever Tier 6 planes I enjoy most at the moment. I'd rather stumble into a new Tier 7 organically than force another death march grind.

SpiritFoxMY's videos with the Dora convinced me to go down the FW-190 line.  I LOVE the Dora.  Both the A5 and the Dora are incredible.  *If* you fly them right.  That sort of got me into the British multiroles, which I am also enjoying.

The Dora led to the Ta-152, which I loved before the nerf.  I am now experimenting with it so that I can grind the next 100k XP to get the Ta-183.  Watching bomber vids convinced me I could play bomber.  So far, I have been wrong about that.   Watching someone play the Me P.1092 convinced me I needed that plane.  I love that plane to death - my favorite LF.

Oh the [edited].. Have 287 planes in hanger.. The spit's & zero's are the most maneuverable planes out there.. I love them both.. Specially the la.. Many planes out there that are good but need the experience to fly them well.. I get 120 to 123 maneaverabillity out of them.. I am lacking on my flying abilities but do quite well in them.. But big guns will payoff as well.. All you need do with all the planes is exploit the planes strongest trait.. Then use it to your advantage.. You can ambush any plane from the blind side, use the big guns to wipe them out.. Every plane in this game can score wins just need exploiting...lol I've ground them all & there are a few that are worse.. But not as bad as you think.
