This was added into the game a while back, a Special plane of some sort.

I saw someone flying it yesterday ie he spanked me in a head-on.

 

Anyone know how he got it? It doesn't seem to have been on sale & I don't recall seeing it in a Mission/Event.

It's a Special Aircraft which appears from time to time as a part of special offers, the last offer I can think of is the one in May. This little bird will surely appear again in the future so it's worth checking portal news

I remember seeing it, but at the time wasn't interested because I already have the Ki-88 and P-39's.

But I now see that it has a much better 37mm than the other Russians, like Yak-7 and -9 ; rate-of-fire is 180 !!

 

This can't be right ... 

NS-37(H) on Yak-3T says :

Damage per Second	230
Rate of Fire , rounds/min	180
Effective Fire Range , m	620

same NS-37(H) on LaGG-3 series 34 has :

Damage per Second	85
Rate of Fire , rounds/min	30
Effective Fire Range , m	949

Thanks guys, my Google-fu failed me again.

I tried a forum search but all I got was a patch-notes thread & one mention in a thread that was otherwise entirely about something else

 

So I may yet be able to score it

Was worried it was something real obscure like given to top 10 ppl over a week during Xmas or something.

 

Yak-9U 2nd to top gun has matching stats, I recall it feeling very good when going through that plane at the time.

I think I did try running the Yak-9U with it for a while but it just doesn't have the derp-power of the 45mm.

Spit Ia was an Event mission associated with the Dunkirk movie.

I think it has been on special sale a couple of times since? Without the special skin?

Well for some crazy reason I was here during that Dunkirk event and I have the special skins and pilots with these planes. But the problem is that the special skins have ZERO bonuses. Which means they are cosmetic only and not a camo for the plane. I mean really? Why not just make it a camo because now I feel like I need to buy a camo that has an actual bonus for these planes that were supposed to already come with special skins that actually have no bonuses now because you changed how camo works.

Yep, several times I've tried to get @blindfold to comment/take the suggestion to have those skins transformed into Gift cammo but never seem to get any traction on the point.

the yak 9T is crap. too slow to get anywhere, bad altitude and poor boost. you can fly away from these turkeys with almost any plane. the guns are also not reliable the 37 overheats quickly and its shell dispersion is very bad. that said this thing is very deadly at -400m.

 

if you see one just fly away. EZ
