Biplane (noob) Girl here again with another AMAZING question. (Yay Me!!!)

Fighters are those consummate warriors, taking on anything that dares to fly in their airspace and today we are going to LEVEL UP to those amazing Tier III fighters that grace the skies of our game.  There are a LOT to choose from, in fact too many for me to put into a single poll, it's THAT BIG OF A DEAL!!! :great:

Instead I'm going to break this down into a two stage process, first the very reliable planes from the researchable tech tree and then to the Premiums.  We'll then take the winners from both polls for a CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND where the true BEST OF THE BESTEST will be crowned.

Oh ... I am just SOOO excited!!!  :great:

So what's my pick?

Let me introduce you to my chariot of the sky, the Curtis Hawk 75M!!!

So, what does the Hawk have going for it other than simply being AWESOME?  Firepower, lots and lots and lots of firepower.  Six, count them SIX machine guns at Tier III.  Sure, five of them are 30 cal but who cares, she has SIX machine guns!!!  She's as tough as any of her peers and faster than any but the AR-80.  In addition she has one attribute most lower tier fighters lack, the ability to fight at high altitudes without turning into a fly stuck in jello.

She does have an Achilles heel however and that is maneuverability.  Getting into a turning contest with an any of the tech tree fighters in this tier is a time for prayer or bot intervention so DON'T DO IT ... if you end up doing this and get shot down then remember DONT DO IT!!! If you do it again and go down in flames then REALLY REALLY HONESTLY DON'T DO IT!!!  I, of course have never made this mistake ... nope nope nope. *halo*

So that's my take on these warriors of the sky, what's yours??

Yes, it's haughty and its arrogant but you're a battleship with 16 inch guns and Britannia Rules the Waves.  Maybe a bit of arrogance in this case is appropriate.

Leaving the realm of biplanes?

I play a lot of Tier 3 premiums, but I really don't remember any of these tech tree fighters.

The Focke-Wulf was my choice.  Cannon in the nose, can turn pretty well, flies high.  Excellent training for the next step - the mighty Bf-109B.

Yes sadly.

Any conversation about T3 biplane tech tree fighters is likely to be very short, as in, "there are none so WHY are their no BIPLANES!!!  Come on WG, how are we supposed to survive without BIPLANES!!!!":izmena:

Having returned to the Hawk recently, and when fully equipped with ALL the guns, it is indeed a beast when flown correctly.

can't comment on the other options.

The Hawk and the Ar-80 can get up there.  Don't ask.

I know you are talking about which fighter is better but I want to make a special mention to a multi-role plane that was undoubtedly better than any tier III fighter, I don't know how well it performs now but in those days (1.X) it was incredible!, I'm talking about the Grumman F3F. More than 4,500 battles with that plane, W/R 80%, more than 19,000 planes shot down, almost 2/3 of my 3.124 pre-2.0 ace medals came from that plane, it turned faster than any tier 2, 3 or 4 plane. With a well trained pilot, equipped with a gunsight and the "10 seconds more maneuverability" consumable it was great.

That always was my setup for every fighter/MR fighter

Hmm. a few biplanes missing from your list.
My favorites are a tie between the Hawker P.V. 3 and the Polikarpov I-15bis DM-2 (cuz RAMJETS)
You've also omitted both Avias at tier 3 of the Europe tree.

Oh. . . . TECH tree fighters?

Logic is a feeble reed, friend. "Logic" proved that airplanes can't fly and that H-bombs won't work and that stones don't fall out of the sky. Logic is a way of saying that anything which didn't happen yesterday won't happen tomorrow.

Ki-27 is the best here in my opinion. Fast and maneuverable with a couple of heavy machine guns.

The Ar80 - the mini-messerschmitt.
