So after owning the SE100 for less than a week.  Playing a total of 26 battles in it.  I absolutely love the 20mm rear gunner.  Sometimes I'll do my flyby and instantly go to the rest gunner to finish them off.  I've probably tripled my gunner kills by doing so.  Just gotta remember to make sure you don't fly into a mountain while in level flight as the gunner.  It does happen...

A couple of the rather enjoyable quirks.

I like how when you boost, the engines give a little puff of black smoke in defiance before they accept their task and rev up.

The diagonal cut flaps at the end are very interesting.  I often find myself pressing a and d to flip the plane back and forth just to watch the flaps wave.  It just seems....graceful.  Which I feel fits with the overall shape of this plane, which reminds me of dolphins as they jump and are heading back into the deep blue.

does turn like an old cadie.  It's slow for a heavy.  It really doesn't have a great atlitude ceiling.  But all in all,  I feel like the quirks and overall firepower makes this plane fun to fly.  I am still learning the ins and outs,   but definitely enjoying my purchase.

Enjoy it, its an amazing plane and now that it can be other nations its even better. Those 4 20s in front are almost unfair for its tier... add in the great rear gun and it is one of my favorite 3 heavies alongside the 110B and the 262 II with 20s.

The (not so) amazing Chokai is back! And he's hit all his personal goals sans one! Seriously though, nice to be back, looks like he game is improving. I continue to try to recruit new people.

Don't forget that you can change the nation of the plane, which will generally grant you access to better pilots since you'll have more and higher tier planes outside of the Europe line.

I have noticed a "change nation" button or something like it.  What exactly does that mean?

You can change to any of the Big 5. So let's say your best pilot and gunner are from Germany or a Russian GA crew. Change to that nation and they can fly the plane. Can also work well for training a crew for a new line, for instance if you just got a new Heavy or Bomber line and wanted to get some skills on fresh pilots.

I may just have to take advantage of that.  I have yet to take advantage of switching pilots to premiums for training purposes.  Good looking out

One of the advantages of posting on the forum is that there are people who want to see you get the most out of the game. You should use pilots assigned to other planes in your premium aircraft. There is rarely if ever a need to have a specific pilot trained for a premium aircraft. Hope that makes sense.

love that plane.

I'll assume that wingtip twisting ailerons turned out to be a poor invention in general, but I love watching them wiggle

That rear gunner has caused me grief way too often. Have to avoid following that thing and look for better options.

Okay, so where is this button? I just went to the game and looked all over and don't see it. Is this a "can't see for looking" thing?

Is it just for Europe planes? If so that's why I don't see it as I have none.

Yes just Europe planes.

You right click on the plane icon in the carousel, select nation & you get confirmation screen like this.

I haven't done it yet myself, will probably put it over to Japan when I get round to advancing on the Japanese Heavy line, probably also German Heavies.

SE 100 is a really good plane, was one of my first few Premiums :)

I don't play it much now but its really useful for the Event plane missions which always have a '5 kills with gunner in single battle'.

The key trick is nearly killing something with the 4* 20mm as you approach then flying straight past & switching to gunner for the kill.

I tend to get over-eager trying to wear their hitpoints down a little too far & accidentally kill the target before I get past :hiding:

LOL.   Always a problem when you kill something accidently rather than on purpose!   May all our problems be like that.

Like the OP I've also got a problem with running into mountains...

I do try to line up a run not towards a mountain, or make sure my altitude is clear but misjudgements are known to happen

this has been my tactic.  But because it levels you out while in turren mode....gotta watch out.  And in some of the maps the altimeter doesn't really help because the ground is quite a bit above sea level.

Possibly the most amazing thing about this plane is its real.

They flew 1 prototype, 2nd prototype & ramping production stopped by the rapid German invasion.

And it was going to be even more powerful with 6* forward 20mm, 2* tail & a 3rd lower arc 20mm :amazed:

I usually do a bit of research on the planes I either fly or want to fly (wikipedia).  In fact, I just today started researching the pilots the epic achievements are named after. The first was Marseille.  That guy was a madman in the 109.  Looking into trying to find a biography.  Oddly enough,  I earned my first Marseille today in my SE100.  Synchronicity? Who knows, but it's been fun and interesting.

I don’t know him, but there is a player named “nef” who can make the SE100 dance like no other.  I don’t know how he does it, but it’s an art with him flying it.

I think that's the guy that has a 13-point pilot and a 12-point gunner.

If you want to do work on him, bring a P-38F.  Bounce from up top, fly WAY away and regroup your boost.  Rinse.  Repeat.

It's been the only way I have been able to beat him.  Or you could own an I-21 and be named GeorgePatton.  Whichever works for you.  ;)

Accurate-ish. Depends on what the rest of his team is doing exactly but 1v1 yea.. that's about it.

I have a 15-point crew in my SE 100 (gunner -and- pilot) and my friend who I often fly matchies with is running a 9/10 point crew and when we walk into a match.. well... we don't lose often because twin SE 100s flying in formation are almost impossible to kill.

I have this odd feeling if we ran into an I-21 we'd lose though.
