Glad you came back!

Most of the DRACS are gone - the ones who still play are still good!

As I'm sure you've noticed, the game is quite different now - I've had the best success forgetting everything I thought I knew about the game, jumping into the Discord community and learning from the new experts! Lots of really cool dudes on the official Discord (link right here) who are happy to share their knowledge!

Cheers!
Glenn

Yeah it seems like it changed a lot, especially with the GA dynamics, but the core seem like the same, turn and shoot :D. Thanks for the pointer, and advise on getting a clan? I got a yearly premium and I think I will commit some time.

I was really scared that after the new deal would lose the old airplanes, thanks God not the case !!

The names of the old planes are still there, but not how they fly. Patton mentioned a key element to enjoyment, forgetting what you knew about the game pre 2.0.  I think the basics are still there, but they do not fly as DIFFERENT as they used to.  But if you fly enough, you will forget how they were has been my experience.

Humbly,

Booze

Shooting down planes is good...but it really only counts if they're in a sector (little white, red, or blue circle on the map).  Superiority is gone, now it's all about capturing and holding sectors.  There's no way to stop the score countdown other than to capture all the sectors, which is highly unlikely if you're getting whipped.  So, unlike the old mode, there's little room to make a comeback when you're really getting hammered...other than to kill all the enemy players or "player bots" (not sector based air defense aircraft bots) after the "squall" when respawns stop.

I'm happy to help.  2.0 is needlessly confusing and very "busy" compared to 1.x

I just had a friend start and even though I've spent a bit of time typing these helpful bits to other players, actually talking to a gamer I've known for years about what's going on in game at the time it's happening and seeing the things he's bringing up, it highlights how needlessly complex this current game mode is.  And, that's just the normal dynamics of it.

Then, you have to add in the bots and, now, bot management factor.   Speaking of which, the old function key commands to tell your teammates what you're doing are now used to direct bots.

F2 pointed at a sector tells a bot to attack that sector.  The code will usually pick a bomber, ground attacker or heavy fighter to respond to your request.

F4, pointed at an enemy will tell the bots to attack them. Usually some fighter type will respond (although it might be getting shot at by other bots at the time and is unable to comply).

F3 will request a bot to follow you.

F7 still tells everyone that you need help because someone is on your tail and sometimes a bot will respond and actually come help (if you see which bot answers and fly towards it and it's not being shot at, it will shoot the guy chasing you).

Some of us have resorted to a series of map ping "waypoints" to tell other humans where we're going without using the function key F2 and telling bots to go there (sometimes you are just going to cap an empty sector and don't want to pull bots from the bigger fight or you don't want to send a bot into a zone that will just get shot down making your job of capture more difficult).

I think I'm starting to notice that if everyone pulls bots away for their own purposes, there's less chance for bot capping

They're 90% fodder and 10% helpful in an average dogfight, so I've tried just letting them go do whatever they were programmed to do

but I'd pay money for a 'good communication' pilot skill that turns that bozo bot wingman into a veteran headhunter

Mercsn, you are simply amazing,

After long hiatus I finally completed my american fighter line!

FJ1 and F-86 delivers the promise, any tips on purpose of the F6U. I got it, but it only seems to be to go after heavies and GAs. Would it worth going after XF-90?

Tier 6 GA IL-2(t) used to be good on both having aerial and ground targets, after only one go at it, it felt like they changed the ceiling and the dynamics of it,

I used to kick [edited]on IL40s, was still able to get 4 aerials but ground efficiency doesn't feel like it used to be, I remember old times single IL40P was clearing the map and getting you home!!

The game is definitely more complex and requires more strategy and smarter play. Which BTW is what I'd prefer.

Today I found out the flights are limited to 2 now which sucks though!

Thanks for the all the helps and good spirits peeps!

I'll be around.
