Anyone happen to know if any of the other plane lines besides Germany and Britain get a gun equipment slot?

My specific curiosity is about the La line, but that's added the question of which lines have what.

La-x do not.  I've got them up to the tier 9.   They have the 2 airframe and 1 engine up til tier 9 when it's 2 and 2.  That said, I don't think they need a gun slot.  The cannons have good range, excellent crit ability, and usable rate of fire.  The tier 7, 8,  and 9 seem to really like speed builds.

It's been a while since I played the tier 6 and can't say whether I'd run a speed or turn build on it.  It was my favorite plane in beta and still worked well enough in the altitude cap [edited]that it was the one I went straight to when 2.0 brought me back to check the game out.  I'm not sure if it's had adjustments.

I recently flew the tier 7 for the crit contest and it drives just the same as I'd remembered.  The line all flies the same, the guns just get better and the plane seems to feel better as you go up since the guns earn more crits and the turning competition fades as the Japenese planes bow out of the turn fight.

The Reppu is very rare (so not much of a consideration) and the La-x won't turn inside a Spitfire, unless the Spit is set up for speed and the La-x is set up to turn.  So, at tier 7+, my strategy is to build for speed so I can keep up with the faster planes long enough for the guns to break stuff or kill them.

Oh, and I've been accused twice in the last 2 weeks of being a hacker in the La-160.  Good times.  Once by an Attacker (or was it a Sea Hawk, memory fades) driver who didn't realize he couldn't out turn me.  He said I was running a "lag switch" (which I found HIGHLY ironic) and that was how I beat him.  Basically, the 30mm guns make a huge noise and the bullets don't go where the tracer smoke goes. Add in big crits and huge hp loss and people get confused.  It's a rare plane, I guess, so people don't know they can't turn fight it.

And, it's fast enough (with boost consumable, for duration) that the 2nd guy was an Me 262 HG driver who also (oddly) wanted to turn fight me.  I knocked him for some crits before he finally realized he should extend instead of turn.  I stayed with him long enough to finish him off.  Because he's stupid, I'm a hacker.  Good times.

I highly recommend the line.  In tier 6, it would be the same advice as 7 and 8, just avoid the spitfire unless you can get the drop on him for a wing or tail crit.  A zero should be a one-pass kill and if you can aim well (which I figure you can), the Spit probably would be also, if he didn't maneuver to get out of your guns.

I have bad aim and love the nose guns. I don't have to match my wings to target wings orientation for max damage like with a wing mg plane (ex. US planes, or MG tier 5 spit premium).  The guns are easy to use and effective.  The planes all feel very comfortable and similar as you move from one to another and drive really well. I wish they still had the "controllability" stat visible, I'm curious what it is.

I think what you have there is a rage-XPer.  Someone who skipped the Me-262 at T8 and decided the the HGII would somehow be different.

The La line is fragile.  As a Me-262 (all flavors) driver, I know exact how to bust up La-x fliers.

Turning is at the very bottom of the list.  Really, all the way down.  "Crash into a mountain" is before turning.

It's one of my favorite things in game to shoot down an Me-262 with my La-9 or La-11.  Since, historically, that did (surprisingly) happen, even though it probably shouldn't have (unless the 262 was landing or taking off).  Engine crits make me smile and those Russian cannon do like to crit.

But, yes.  I was wondering why a human pilot would try to turn fight the La-160 (or turn fight anything, really) in his undamaged 262HG.  I mean, a bot would have straightened out and probably run out of my gun range.

Guns on the Me-262 are so hard to reliably hit with, unless you've got super stable net ping and great eyeball timing.  I admire people who can play it effectively.

It's one of those things where you have to play it for a while to get the timing down.  Normally, I don't play down where the La-x folks play (except when the GAAs need some busting, LOL), but when I do, it's fast, and straight out.  It's best to zap folks before they know you're coming, and get out before they know where it came from.  AND DON'T TURN.  Just fly straight.  You don't even need to boost.  Ping is an issue, for sure.

The MK-108s on the Me-262 are REALLY hard to get used to.  I have to fly a couple of battles just to remind myself of how much lead I have to pull.  The MK-213s on the HGII and HGIII are easier, but everything is faster, so you still have to pull the same lead, LOL.  The nice thing is that the 213s seem to do more damage, reliably.

Every Heavy plane in all the nations that i have flown thus far has had one gun slot.

I only have 2 light fighters with a gun slot.
Both are high altitude "B&Z" energy fighters.
Both are tier 8.

one is the Me 209A and the other is the American Curtis XF15C.
take this with a bit of salt. the american is a premium. and premiums tend to bend the rules.
(in this case its an american fighter that does Not Use Any HMG's .    Absolute Heresy ©:izmena: )

Speculation

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is much like my WinRate. Hit or Miss.
Usually I start on the right track and then a make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...
And yet it doesn't stop me from speculation.

High-tier IJA LF's get a gun slot, oddly enough they're unique in their equipment being cockpit, 2Xairframe, engine, and guns.

I do fly Chinese aircraft a fair amount so... *ahem*

CHINA NUMBAH WAN

I even made a custom skin for my IL-10M!

I noticed that tooling around with my T9 IJA LF last night. I need a -lot- more practice with its gun heat cycle though. Its.. different?
