Is tonight the night The Toronto Raptors win Canada its 1st ever NBA Title?

Or will Kevin Durant return to the Warriors lineup and stop this seeming inevitable Raptors march to the Championship?

It seems it will be an exciting game either way.

I used to be a Golden State Warriors fan when I was a kid. They were one of Dad's favorites from before they left Philadelphia.

BUT.... Now?

I'm rooting for the raptors just because there are several members of the current warriors lineup (Draymond Green, I'm looking heavily at you) who are just egotists who don't deserve the W.

Actually, I don't care one way or another, EXCEPT:

If Brad Marchand never gets his cheating, grubby, little hands on the thing, I'm happy.  I used to think I didn't like Scott Stevens.  Nope, I think he's a saint in comparison to Marchand.  That guy can go eat a bag of cold Richards.

I absolutely prefer hockey.  Those guys are big and tough, will take a puck in the face for the team, and at the end of the game, they are shaking hands.  Those NBA wusses fall over if you breathe on them hard.  Meh.

No, even though I grew up around basketball, and we had no ice rinks within 100 miles, I still prefer hockey over almost every other sport.

You know, I never did appreciate curling until HDTV.  I mean seriously.  In the past, it was all long camera shots and I was like, who cares?

Now, you can actually see the effort they put in and the strategy.

Add to that the fact that the women's teams are just as talented as the men's teams and easier on the eye and I am now a curling fan.

I curled in a couple bunny bonspiels. The only sport where you can show up at 3am for your first match and start drinking.

With 5 small mining towns where I live we had 5 arenas and everyone played hockey and we did produce a few NHL stars but the most memorable was Rick Rypien. He was a local boy who trained in boxing with my former brother in law who was an olympic boxer and he was not scared of anyone.

Sadly depression finally won the last fight the Ripper was in and he took his own life a few years ago.

what most yanks don't understand is...

that curling is a drinking game

that involves standing up once in a while

And gals yelling harder! harder!

There's a reason Bobby watches it like me.

Not just for the good looking gals but the heart they have while playing.

That first period was like, dude, are you serious?  Binnington was the difference in the game.

Yes, that second goal was fantastic.  Right at the expense of Marchand.  At it turned out to be the game-winner.  Even more sweet.
