Which to choose the Su-10 or EF 131?

 

From what was said in other topic apparently Su-10 is the go-to.

I'm inclined that way mainly because it looks cooler to me & I've got almost all the rest of the USSR tree researched.

 

But I look at stats showing the EF 131 being faster, with higher altitude, higher base tail-gun dps & bombs with bigger damage (10k vs 7k) in much bigger radius (120m vs 90m) -> I feel like that should be generally the better plane.

 

Su-10 does have 2* turrets -> in the upper section where both can fire its got a whopping 384dps vs 280 on the EF 131 but otherwise I don't see why I should take it over the EF 131?

Because its a new experience.

 

The EF131 is just a souped up Ju287 and flies like that so if you're already tearing it up in the 287, the EF131 is just more of the same. The Su-10 though is a whole new ballgame from the Tu-12. Also, the Ju287 is just ridiculously good anyway so grinding it is pretty painless once you get it elited. The Tu-12 can be challenging even when fully upgraded.

I like the German bombers, in general, better than the Russians.   But you won't regret either choice.

This is a good point.  Also since WG dropped the XP requirements and credit costs for T9-10 planes it should be even easier to grind out the plane you don't choose.  Of course, in this case it feels like the 131 will be the easiest to grind since those 287 1000lb bombs are quite efficient.

I picked up the EF 131, my flight partner picked up the Su 10.

We ran into quite a few Su 10s....

I dunno... so far I'm singularly unimpressed by its capabilities. We'll see how that shapes up as people get more familiar with it.

I picked up both.

 

EF is just more of the Ju 287 with a little more speed.

 

Su-10 is whole new ball game compared to Tupolev's. I feel like it is no longer a dive bomber, but rather sort of carpet bomber. Also, 4x 20mm guns at top back is just... OP

So, you're saying that the entire Russian bomber line, basically until the Su-10, is challenging/painful?

 

I think I get that. I'm only on the Pe-2 myself, and OH MY GOODNESS does that thing ever uptier poorly!  It's nigh-useless dead-weight in most Tier VI matches.

Those upper tailguns sure do cut like buzzsaw

One thing I hadn't realised: its got 8* single-release bombs so doesn't matter so much that they have smaller dmg/radius than the German one.

While top-speed isn't that amazing it boosts up into the red easily while flying horizontal even with my not-fully retrained crew.

I am thinking the same thing.  Somehow got a 75% discount and am now working on the final 5% discount.  That, in and of itself is pretty slick.  

 

I was thinking about the German but the Su-10 seems more, well, interactive and probably matches my play style (fly fast, die early, rinse, repeat, pew pew pew, die again).  

 

Oops, already got to 80%, so... Charge It!   But dang, now I dropped below 1M Free XP.  Not bragging... OK, I am.

Actually the 131 probably does this better since its almost 150kph faster with 30s faster reload on four massive bombs.

 

The Su-10 does better if you're getting stuck in over contested Caps and you have light fighters and Multiroles trying to take a bite out of you (you won't believe how fast they melt if you catch them with both turrets)

Too late.  Made my choice.  The number of premium RU planes with rear gunners who can be transferred heavily influenced my decision.

 

And by interactive, I meant getting down and dirty and dying in a blaze of glory rather than dying alone in the stratosphere where no one can hear my screams.

That idea is influencing my choice.  I have been flying the Ju-288 to much better effect down low than way up in the sky.  The results, while sort of middling for scoring, has been pretty high on the s#!+s-and-giggles scale.  Having a plane than can straight up wreck LFs and MRFs sounds like fun.

I got the Su-10.  WOW, that thing is pretty awesome.  very nice first mission and I forgot to put the good pilot and a decent gunner in it.  Nice choice....I like it.
