Video of the P-36 gaining the Marseilles Medal, McCambell medal and a few others.

Please note the it was gained for the Defend Airfield daily mission.

However I did not stay at the airfield due to lack of action but I do return.

Target priority was ADA then Enemy planes. Since most of the enemy were bots I just ignored some of them

So as to maintain superiority of sectors.

nice game, nice vid!  :medal:

nice escape from the F3F, pulling him into friendly ADFs, although I thought that you could have got him with a different vertical move at the start of the engagement.  Still, excellent game!

Thanks for commenting.

Yeah, I started to dog fight with him then realized I needed to drag that bot into the Airstrip for it to count towards " defending airstrip " mission.

Nice.

I noticed in the video and in others I've seen that now and again "flaps extended". I have mine set for auto flaps and I don't ever recall seeing that message when I fly. Are you using yours manually? If so, what key do you find most useful and in what situations are you using them.

manual flaps are really useful for turns       flaps add lift, and lift works both vertically and horizontally

That's what I figured. So in auto mode they won't engage for a lot of times you might want to use them. I guess they'll extend for some things, like low speeds, but the message doesn't come up as far as I can tell.

Yes, I use manual flaps.

Being left handed I have my keys bound to the number pad.

My break is 5 and flaps is 2. Boost is 8

Flaps will help you turn tighter if you combine it with boost.

It will also help when you are trying to go as slow as possible with out stalling.

They are also good in heavies when you need to drive and get a steady shot.

Okay. Thanks. Must give them a try.

I use manual flaps and find that flaps and your brake allow you temporarilly out turn unsuspecting players in many situations were they feel that their Spit or Zero is unbeatable. :teethhappy:

pitch up/down, rudder left/right, roll left/right, airbrake, flaps, and boost can all be used to modify the way the plane turns. Assuming you have them all keybound.

My current layout is a bit of a mess and centered around the WASD setup, but pitch up/down are q/e, flaps is F, a/d are roll left/right, w is boost, s is airbrakes, and rudder left/right are z/c.

and as I discovered this morning. Pitch up and pitch down are great if you are in a bummers turret mode.

Almost got a bummer kill but the Heavy finished it off.

it's kind of a hidden advanced setting       just don't forget to use them, or even yo mama could outturn you

it would be more realistic if the attitude changed as the flaps rolled on and off, but hey

Automatic flaps are useful for some scenarios, but I've found it often still doesn't use them when I -want- it to or vice versa.. it turns them on when I -don't- want them.

Pitch up and Pitch down are really important and can make a plane turn like no one expects.  Turn your plane perpendicular to the ground, hit pitch up, and watch the world spin.  Or, do a low level run on a ground target in a GA and avoid ramming by the earth-bot.

Pitch down is better for bombers but it can help you in a GA as well when manning the turret.  Just watch out for that earth-bot, it likes to ram.

I did a kinda unique (I think) setup where my left and right mouse movements control my rudder with just a little auto-roll (10%) and the only way to really roll is to use my A and D keys.  That way I don't have an overwhelming set of keys when playing (i.e., I don't want additional keys for rudder control).

Yeah I hate that auto roll. I have mine set for 0%.

Wish I could shut it all the way off but then it may not be realistic.

I have all my keys bound for total control.

Depending on the day and the plane I will change the gun settings to all fire ( as in video )

As little HUD info as I can get away with.

I am all set to goof off in a match and do some strange unorthodox flying,

fellow Southpaw here.   I have boost on the right shift key, flaps on numberpad 1.  I usually have to think to turn them on. . . . .used to flying heavies where keeping speed is key.  Roll and pitch keyed to arrows.

"defending Airfield mission"   so ka!  that's more thinking then I usually do in the game.  :teethhappy:

The B-17D greatly benefits from showing its best turret, the bottom one, to the enemy.
