Just curious who has actually bothered to pay for and equip what in regards to specialist. I think I've compiled a mostly accurate list of all the specialists I own or -have- owned. Some I've sold and cannibalized the gear to make new planes I preferred and I have some I have -at- specialist and haven't spent the coin on yet (the ones I've not bought the specialist and geared are not included). I began considering this after noting wylleEcoyote's signature and thought it was an interesting thing to pay attention to and began to be curious who else had what.

Below is my list (44 planes for the curious):

Before I had ever researched any Tier 7-10 planes I was purchasing Specialist for planes as I qualified them, but now that I'm in a long term credit crunch I almost entirely stopped purchasing Specialist status.  If credits were abundant I would Spec them just to be a completeist.  I really have to feel that the plane needs help to do it now.

Specialist planes:

SPAD S.510 :: P-40 :: MiG-3 :: A6M1 :: XP-44 :: Fw 190 A-5 :: Me 209 V4 :: Venom :: Caudron C.714 :: Ki-88 :: Wirraway :: Tomahawk IIb :: TsKB I-7 :: Ki-5

That is an extremely exciting list of planes.

Thank god you did not list the build with them ( sarcasm )

I do not have very many specialist but I am working on specializing every plane.

Shall I confess to being a mad man and starting with speed builds since it takes so long to get from point A to point B

with in this soupy mud bog call sky.

What I can recall off hand is the P-36 video coming soon , I-17, BF-series, XF-90, Soviet GA's So on.

Most of the planes have been easy since they were all ELITE and only took a few battles.

Biggest struggle for me has been getting gold to purchase hangar space for new planes.

Even had to sell all the non premium tier 1-3 planes.

Ive specialized about 30 of my planes now.  That being said I've only fully maxed 2 of them its wastes so many parts its insain.  I go up to orange then stop, never bothering to go past full enhanced.

holy hell, that's a ton of specced planes, brother        congrats

when you rake in the amount of xp that you do, it's got to go somewhere

i lingered a second on the Ta, as i went down the list...   i rarely see you fly it, it's such a beauty in the air

it's an aspirational plane for me, but i just don't have the chops to fly it

Me-262 HGII (speed build)

B&V P.212.03 (agility build)

T10:

Me-262 HGIII  (speed build)

I will often build up my specialized plane until I get ultimate equipment, before going out and specializing another plane.  I have a few planes where all the equipment is ultimate.  But mostly, my planes are in some form of unfinished state.  I doubt seriously I will calibrate anything, until such day as I can either trade some salvage parts for others, or buy salvage outright.  With the upcoming pilot skill revamp, I'm not really interested in going all crazy with the calibration system.  I have a feeling that system will mirror the equipment/salvage system.

Most of my Specialized planes don't get fully enhanced equipment, especially most of the JPN L.Fighters I Specialized just to do it.

Specialization is still something I grind for in planes I like but I found myself using tokens to get planes, mostly heavies, that I thought I needed Specialized NOW to enjoy them.

Sometimes the quick method helped me like the plane better, sometimes not.

I've essentially run out of tokens so that wont be something I'll be doing again anytime soon.

29 Spec'd here.  Mostly US and German, but then, so are most of my planes.  I'm fairly close to a couple others, esp the F-7F, but getting there would involve FLYING the TigerCat. . . . .  :(

I am enjoying the overall variety of planes listed. Some of them I would have never considered specializing! (no judgement there, I really am liking seeing what everyone has decided to put a bit of "extra" into)

I have a Spec thread, but here's the general idea.  What I have qualified for Spec vs what I've actually paid to Spec.  Generally I haven't used my Specialized planes much because there's nothing left to grind, except for the SPAD which I fly a lot.

SPAD S.510 - yes - didn't need it, but it was the first plane I qualified

P-40 - yes

MiG-3 - yes, didn't need it

A6M1 - yes, haven't flown since

XP-44 - yes

Fw 190 A-5 - yes, needs

Me 209 V4 - yes, needs++

Venom - no, probably later?  (credit crunch hits)

Caudron C.714 - no, probably later?

Ki-88 - no, maybe later?  Decent plane as-is.

Wirraway - no, probably?

Tomahawk IIb - no, can't remember if it needs anything, but probably at some point

TsKB I-7 - no, and probably not since it's just an engine consumable and this plane already kicks butt

I see that a couple of you pilots have specialized the Do 217 M German bomber.

Well I'm currently playing that one (iluvbombers) and trying to Specialize it but dayum.

15 aerial target kills by gunner?

I'm 28 games into it and only have 2 lol,

The bombs are huge and they might go where you aim them once you get a bombsight after Specialist but the turrets are so weak that any heavy chews me up quick.

I took your advice WW and put Precision Gunner on asap, and it helps as they do turn away quicker, but aerial kills aren't coming.

I think this will be a good bomber after it's specialized and I am winning in it but that I think is mainly due to good teammates and bots.

It will help if you bind keys for pitch up and pitch down so you can still fly in turret mode

Yes I can see this as helpful for evasive maneuvers and getting/keeping turrets on target but it is something I've avoided because of stubbornness and lack of coordination.:(

One of the things that I have trying is to use the German bombers as both dive bombers and low-level bombers.  Down low, your natural predators are often far away - by being up high.  Down low, the more fragile planes don't get to put as much lead into you before they turn away.  Also, dive bombing helps to put steel on target more betterer.

pitch up/pitch down, roll left/roll right, and rudder left/rudder right are fairly necessary keybinds. I got my turret kills in it by purposely waiting and watching and then diving in like the fury of mothra using the forward firing turrets. If you do that to bots, they usually have no clue what to do but try to get away from you and that's not so simple with all those turrets. If they're under half health they should die -fairly- quickly. Precision gunner + Defensive fire helps a lot, but that's another trick.. just actually -charge- them. The AI gets confused real bad when you do it... and players do too LOL

Also, Corvus is correct. The German bombers benefit from a slight nose down as they drop.. I usually nose down and grab the airbrakes for a half a second and I seem to miss a lot less than others. This also requires a certain amount of dancing as you have to keep it in a shallow dive while in bombsight mode which also requires keybinds :/

high altitude effectively takes that heavy out of the battle for several minutes         high altitude separates the men from the boost-feathering boys
