This is because in order to actually Specialize a plane, you FIRST have to FLY IT at least 100+ battles.

(Stock to Elite, Elite to Specialized = LOTS of battles as the tiers go up)

So...Any pilot in a Specialized plane PROBABLY KNOWS how to FLY IT to suit their playing style and then SPECIALIZE for those TRAITS.

That COMBO (Pilot knowledge and Upgraded plane) can be deadly. IMO

Best Regards,

Gunny

Some specialized planes you encounter will be people like me. I just fly around until it happens.

I am no particular threat to most anyone. I have around 5500 battles and my win rate is like 52.something %.

Not really a "lie" per se... Disappointing that on SOME PLANES there are top modules not available.

When I see a Specialized plane, I ASSUME that the pilot has a pretty good idea of both the plane and the game and look to take them out.

They had to be "good enough" to Specialize it in the 1st place so they are always my priority targets throughout the battle.

Gunny

When I implied specialist spitfires, I also implied that they did not get specialist by purposefully working towards it, but just by flying the plane so much (like Skywolf here) that it gets unlocked.

Number of battles does not directly translate into skill or experience.

But, if it is anything other than a specialized spitifre, it makes good sense to go after the "kill me wings".

I cannot "specialize" my Fw 190D to fly with 4x20mm using "specialist".

I happen to like the 30's on the FW-190D but hated the plane.

Didn't like the Ta-152 either.

Too bad the entire Focke Wolfe line is lame. - IMO (slow, stall, bad turn, bad energy..Just bad)

They were some of the best fighters in WW2 and yet they are terribly mis-represented in this game.

Not really the case if you use tokens, as I do.

Yes and no.

The Fw 190s are at the low end of the BnZ planes, with the A-1 being the worst of the line and the Ta 152 being arguably the best (it was so good that it was nerfed in the same patch as the pancake nerf).

The 190s require a very specific playstyle and skill level to use effectively. But once you can, they can be really very powerful. Especially in groups.

Exactly.  They can be VERY effective.  And they can be made to turn very well, in addition to having a ton of raw speed, plus long boost.  There are pilots who can hard carry in a German MRF.  It takes some serious skill and discipline.

I kept my Specialized A-5. At Tier 6 it seems competitive at least.

It is a gun game and it has good guns, but the rest is blah even Specialized..IMO

The Ta-152 was a real letdown.. The ME-209 seems better to me in almost every aspect and leads to a much better T9 fighter.

So I dropped the FW line at T8, re-bought my ME-109F and now am flying the ME-209 in that line.

But different stuff is what we like about this game..Right?

Be well,

Gunny

How do you use tokens to specialize a plane?

How many does it take?

It varies by tier.  But as a rule of thumb (inaccurate) about 100 +/-.

I love the T9 Batplane MRF.  The T8 one is a little grindy, but the T9 plane is awesome.  I repurchased the A5 because of how great it is against ground targets and HFs and other MRFs.   The Dora is so fantastic that I had to revisit the A5.  I think I finally figured out how to fight these planes!

But today I just specialized the T9 Batplane.  Wow.  It's good elite.  It's great specialized.

The Spec plane will win 90% on turn speed and acceleration alone.

And still Specialized planes are not taken into account by matchmaking ; so you get one team without specialists and the other team with 5 ... another imbalance.

I love and have all 3 Batwings with T8 and T9 both Specialized. The Elite T10 is totally different but still fun as the rockets are all in the nose and it has a twin 13mm turret!

I still like my A5 and will probably re-buy the D when I finish a couple lines.

I have plenty of XP in it after unlocking BOTH the Ta-152 and the BV212...lol

Be well,

Gunny

It is only an imbalance if you can never win a match against specialist planes.

The thing people fail to realize is that a specialist plane doesn't make it better for every match.

A specialized P-40 built for B&Z can not out turn a regular P-40. The regular P-40 has a tighter turn radius.

A specialized P 40 built anyway can not win against a regular P-40 when it s on your tail or flanking you.

The only way to guarantee losing to a specialized plane is to announce that you are engaging it.

It's not a lie.  This last weekend I was grinding specialist in my T9 Batplane.  I really didn't care if I won or lost, because the goal was to shoot down red planes.  I made the most progress in a loss by taking and camping a central airbase, killing the steady trickle of red bots.  I was excited to see how well I did.  In fact, my next few weeks is grinding specialist in some of my planes.  Spit V DB605.  Bf-109G.  FW-190A5.  Me P.1101.  Me-262 HGIII.  Bf-110B.  Bf-109E.  Pancake.  B-32.  Tu-1.  I don't care at all about W/L.  All I care about is fulfilling the specialist conditions.  Oh, and grinding a 5-point German pilot for my 109G.  I have something very special planned for it...

That's kind of funny.

I just did that with my 109B tier 4. and at the same time had to take 15 bombers out to lunch for the Vamp mission.

Almost like WG knows what you are doing and sticks you with dead beat bots that refuse to pay child support.

Damn I hate losing battles back to back but I finally got it specialized and the 15 bombers.

Now on to the E and figure out if I want to fly it with the 20mm or the 15mm.
