Question for the readers of the forum and the fliers of the mouse.

Yeah you joystick users can chime in with a couple of pennies too.

Game pad users just lie about what you think.

This post is for the new players, old return players that have not figured it out yet,

and the less informed that ping to attack a garrison before the military or command centers.

Speaking of Military and Command center, which do you prioritize first and why ?

Please discuss. ...1..2..3 and GO:

I haven't seen any maps with a military base and a command center, but if there were one, I would choose the MB over the CC, just because of rate of fire.  The bomber waves are slow.

One of the things that the good bomber pilots do is take the nearest objective, regardless of type, just to get the capture clock moving, and to free those bots up for other tasks.  As a HF player, I will often seek the higher value target closest to the red spawn in order to interrupt their taking of a high-value target.

Between a Military Base and a Command Center, I'd say it depends on the situation and, more importantly, your position when it comes to each of them. A Command Center will cap a sector guarantee unless someone goes out of their way to kill the bombers. A Military Base will eventually capture a sector, but if allies keep on dying over whatever it's shooting at, it won't make any progress. You can also flip it before it deals too much damage, where a Bomber Flight will finish their run regardless of the Command Center's status. However, if either is heavilly guarded or too far behind enemy lines, you can't just afford go and cap it.

I'll always try to assault the closest and safest one. However, if I'm given a choice between the only Military Base in the map and the only Command Center, and both are equally close and safe, I'll probably get the Military Base so it can start/stop firing at another sector. Since bomber flights are not really fast, you can usually reach whatever sector they just bombed in time to flip it back around, even on GAAs :bajan:

Grabbing a quick garrison is a way to get the points clock moving. After that it's missile bases and then CC depending on the map.   :)

Speaking of Military and Command center, which do you prioritize first and why ?

Please discuss. ...1..2..3 and GO:

Mining Plant/Factory > Military/Missile Base > Command Center > Garrison > Air Field

Mining Plant/Factory:
I have literally won games by essentially holding this and rotating -one- other cap -occasionally- held. The points production from this and the difficulty in taking it (only ground pounding as an option) combined with the ease of defending it -because- you just have to selectively off the GAA and Bombers make it a must-have base or at least a must-deny-the-other-team base.

Military/Missile Base:
It's a force multiplier if you just follow where it is rocketing to death, it is a constant defensive niggle for the other team even if you don't, and it can be -very- key in flipping an almost flipped cap before the enemy defense manages to reset the capture.

Command Center:
It's just a giant and constant defensive headache for the other team. It doesn't matter whether I follow the flights or even care about the base they are capping. Every couple of minutes it lemmings half their team away from everything else. If you keep the bombers all alive it instantly flips a cap as well.

Garrison:
Easy and quick to flip, but not a huge magnet for wars of attrition because it has -zero- other benefits.

Air Base:
I avoid these unless absolutely necessary. Minimal ground targets make it often pointless if you're in a ground pounder and the plethora of air targets make it a -very- fast flip for a decent air to air pilot. Meaning defense is extremely difficult and team energy requiring. I've found that keeping 1 or 2 people pegging away at it can completely lock a team down and let you capture the rest of the map. Because of this, I refuse to generally get bogged down in air field fights. There are caveats and exceptions to this, but they are very situational.

It is funny to watch everyone fighting and dying over an airfield while I take the other sectors, one by one.

aah, cheese and whine pairings. Magnifique!

Edited to add: I am actually interested in people's prioritization of bases and weirdly I wonder if anyone has a priority of buildings/building types within a given node.

Depends on the plane, though ideally you'd want to try to prioritize the same ones with all GAAs and bombers, in practice, there are some that can't. or at least not anywhere as efficiently as others.

Garrisons:

Medium Armored Ground Targets, in ALL groud-pounders. These are the most valuable targets in a Garrison.

Airfield/Base:

All targets, but primarily aiming for the Medium Ground Target or Control Tower first.

Rocket/Military Base:

everything bigger than an AA emplacement, but aiming primarily for the Special Ground Target, whatever it is called.

Command Center/Base:

Medium Armored Ground Targets and the Radar Station Special Ground Target.

Mining Plant:

Medium and Heavily Armored Ground Targets, plus the Armored Workshops Special Ground Target
