THe Xp 58 is the kind of plane that does well with a 6-7 point crew. and specialist equipment.
It good for dropping you "good" crew in for some quick credits. Those 4x37mm cannons are much like British adens. brutally effective at damaging planes for maximum credit generation but only when you tame them.

Its fairly manuverable for a heavy and quite tanky. and the turret is useful as well. perfect for smashing into a messy multl-fighter dogfight and ruining someones day.

Or at least it was. Its been suffering from a bit of power kreep. I would not necessarily recommend buying it back

Other heavy (german and russian) premiums have come out recently that do almost as much damage at 2x the range and beyond.
both are more accurate with their guns while the german is faster and the russian is just as tanky from the get go.
THe XP-58 will out turn them still. But its hard to turn fight heavies that can delete you from twice your gun range.

I still keep mine around for training heavy pilots and familiarization with how p-38's and the p-39 shoot with that 37mm.
But it stopped being my go-to tier 8 heavy fighter a while ago.

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is on par with my WinRate. Hit or Miss.
I start on the right track and then sometimes make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...
