WELCOME!

probably my best advice is to just fly, learn by doing.

Premium planes do give better xp and credits, if you are willing to spend real $$ to get them, but overall stats are not as good as fully maxed out tech tree planes.  If you can find some "freemium" codes, it's nice to have a few credit earners, but they seem to be rare atm.

Heya and welcome to the forums!

As a new player, there are a few things I found greatly helped my play:

1. Map your manual controls to your keyboard, especially your roll (ailerons) and yaw (rudder) . This will immediately give you access to the single most effective evasive maneuver - the snap roll: when under attack from behind, just jam your rudder and ailerons hard over in one direction and snap your nose down and under your opponent. From there you have to figure out what to do but it gets you out of immediate danger at least.

2. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR MINIMAP. Pay attention to your plane and your HP bar. Fly with an eye on that little radar in the bottom right. 90% of the guys I kill never saw me coming and this is most egregious down at low tiers where people tunnel vision onto a plane so hard you can kill them without them ever reacting. Keep Situational Awareness at all times.

3. Know your planes. I know this sounds like work, but what helped me become a decent player was learning what planes did what and how they performed relative to the other. I used to have Plane Compare open and sitting in front of me at all times so I could quickly refer to their stars vi's a vi's mine. https://worldofwarpl...planes/compare/

Know what your plane can do, know what your opponents can do. It wins battles. 90% of players don't. That's why they are fodder.

4. Fight in the capture points but know when to bug out. Kills dont really count outside capture circles. Push the objective and, again, maintain map awareness so you know where you're needed next - where to push and where to defend.

It will work on anything that isn't a Bomber or a Ground Attack. Just remember point 3. It won't work against everything especially if you're in a Heavy Fighter and the thing shooting at you is a Focke Wulf.

Bombers require a far higher level of map awareness than fighters. You're slow and vulnerable so you need to keep an eye out for any red dots pointing suspiciously in your direction and start running the [edited]away immediately:

1. As said above - keep your eyes plastered on that minimap and start running as soon as something starts pointing in your direction, tailgunnering all the way.

2. Learn your ground targets. Not all targets are the same: some give more points, some are easy to kill, some require multiple bombs. LEARN ALL OF THIS. There is nothing more useless than a bomber dumping his ordnance on AA guns and leaving bits of a high-value Ground Target alive (a GT is only "killed" when all sections are destroyed.)

3. You can fly above Flak. Different tiers have different altitudes, but if you fly high enough, you're immune to Flak. The trade off is lower accuracy and slower speeds so choose wisely.

I keep losing my guide to bombing ground targets. Maybe later when I get onto my PC. For now, I'll just plug some bomber videos I've uploaded.

Only for bombers. For other planes, just check the white circle on the ground as a aiming sight
