Vampire is your best bet, RB-17 is for someone who wants to bomber, Arrow is awesome if you can get it, 109 TL flies like it has an anchor attached to it, P80 is supposed to be good but is expensive, IL-10m guns suck for killing ground targets.

Well, the 335 is up for sale after 12 drops tomorrow so just get that and toss on sight specialist gear. Experiment with the rest.

Slap a turn build on that baby and you will do ok.
In good hands and with a decent skill selection you can do many things fairly well.
Which is important if you want to get those various missions done.

The DPS is a bit meh with only one mk 103. (about half of what you get in the other premium german heavy with a turret)
but it has long range and is accurate enough to make use that range. and its cooldown is not really a problem. So being a good shot will help you much.
Good climb rate. outstanding roll rate. NIce Boost. Very manuverable for a heavy fighter. especially a german one.
This translates into a base turn rate that  is mostly average but again a turn build will be super helpful here.
(as long as you avoid turning against things with fewer engines than you. which you can/should probably out run anyway)
.
But the field is thick with competition.
Some things are faster. some shoot harder.  some turn better.
Once you know what your enemy is capable of you can determine not just how you want to engage them, but if you should even bother.

All to be expected in a MultiRole SchnellBomber that happens to have Heavy fighter altitude and boost performance.

What was that last bit?

Flipping caps is super easy this way. But the cruise build that maximizes this means you can not; indeed Must Not, turn fight any more.
Strictly Boom and Zoom. or Sniping the unaware from a minimum safe distance.
Which somewhat limits your options.
Which becomes a problem when you are looking to do as many different token missions as possible with only one tier 8 airplane.

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is on par with my WinRate. Hit or Miss.
I start on the right track and then sometimes make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...

Well the Goblin has showed up in the store for $88 CDN. Is the 335 still coming tomorrow? Is the Goblin a good deal? It comes with a 50% discount coupon "on any premium warplane packages."

Goblin is a meme. It's not a good plane but it can be fun to fly. Guns are pathetic. Maneuverability is pretty good. Acceleration is insane. Tbh, I wouldn't recommend it for a new player.

If you have to choose, choose the Do335. It's a far more capable airplane. Just be aware - it has a very different playstyle to the turn and burn planes you've been playing.

That 50% coupon has limits. You have to use it by August 1, and you cannot use it on special offers, discounted bundles, or gold packages. I put in a ticket to check on that and that is the response I got.

I was thinking of of using the coupon on the 335 if it shows up at some point. Based on this coupon limitation and SpiritFoxMY's review on the Goblin itself I think I will hold off for now.

My hunt for a T8 premium continues...

Honestly to me looking at your player profile you really have enough Premiums & would do better just actually playing some Tree lines to hit T8.

But hey, if you got the cash I guess :coin:

at least start working on the vampire, it’s a free, no time limit mission for a very good T8 fighter.  Also, the XP-55 isn’t a bad T6 either.

Oof damn, I didn't realise that thing has 4* 37mm :hiding:

That explains several cases of me exploding out of nowhere -> cut to spectator cam of XP-58 then :bajan:

You don't want bots to fly the 58.  Snipa snipa gonna getcha.

The goblin's guns are par for course for high tier US fighters - they don't bite chunks of planes off - they chew at them for a bit.  All you need to do is hold down the fire button - no trigger management necessary. Also the goblin is turney enough to hang with most planes for the chewage.

Well look at that - if you buy the goblin, you can use the 50% coupon to get half off the 335 base package.  So two planes for $95..

Can anyone confirm that I can use the 50% discount coupon with the DO 335?

^^^All of this is true.  The Gobling is a fantastic and fun aircraft.  LOL-fun, in fact.  But the Do-335 is a complete beast.  When I am flying it, I fear nothing.  Even if I am downtiered.  It is fast, hits hard, and for a heavy, turns on a dime.

The stats lie - this plane is better than the numbers show. It's better than the 262 in most aspects except fire power.

That 30mm in the hub hits a TON at long distance.  I have pecked away at bombers without receiving a scratch.

You decided on the Arrow.  How do you like it?

And for all the folks telling him to grind one out:  going from tier 5 to 8, if he pretty much ONLY is interested in tier 8 for the tokens sounds like un-fun gameplay.  Grinding anything is gonna be unfun.  Grinding tier 8 missions just for tokens could be not fun...but at least he can get the tokens and get them nao.  And, he's flown enough tier 7 to have experienced the bottom side of tier 7-8 matches.  If he wants to spend the money to skip the grind so he can access the daily missions, why not?

Had I got here sooner, I probably would've recommended the 109 TL.  It's got a big enough bomb to kill ground targets, if needed (or to get an easy qualification for "capture sectors" missions) and it turns inside the Pancake (bring syrup) and the Me 262 and can harass players  who bring those into matches (or bots -ace skill enemy bots in HF can mess up friendly bots fast) .  I find the 2x 20mm + 2x 30mm setup more user friendly than the Me 262's 4x 30mm setup simply because if I miss with the 30's I'll be hitting with the 20's in a turn and if they all hit on something flying straight (or close) enough, it's still good damage.  Both players and bots in HF tend to straighten out and try to run to evade, which usually resuslts in more hits and crits on them making them easier to finish off.  Other than the standard HF downsides, the only other negative is the relatively low altitude band for the type and tier.

I have a "speed build" on the La-11 which makes it actually feel more usable in tier 8 even though it's stats look like it should be weak.  The La-x isn't turny enough to get inside a Spit in a protracted knife fight, anyways.  So, I figured, since the 11 already had slightly better turning, why not boost its speed to be able to keep things that want to run away in range longer (I have a severe hate for ace bots in HF in tier 8).  The 3 guns still offer enough crit and range potential to knock out engines or wings which can help real in and finish off both faster HF and LF that want to try and outrun it.  I wish they hadn't taken out the per-plane w/r.  I don't remember how my previous performance was in both when I was leveling up my Lavochkin line.

The P-80 is a plane that is REALLY annoying when I'd encountered players in it.  It seems to turn better than the stats page indicates (possibly they were all running max turn mods) and has good speed to boot.

I ended up getting the Do 335. It is probably the least maneuverable plane in my inventory. I find the Tu-1 to be more powerful than the Pfeil at least in my hands.

After the Tu-1 event is over I will grind at least one regular tech tree line to T8. I am thinking the US heavy fighter line.
