Hi all,

I have recently started playing the game and I have to say I quite enjoy it. I am still terrible but getting better I think. I wish more people played the game.

What premium planes should I keep an eye out for in the premium shop? You know, the WOWP equivalents of the Type 59, Mutant 6 and Tetrarch. I recently got the Spitfire Ia and quite enjoy it.

Thanks,

Panoptic

All of them.

If you have the money.

I suggest you start purchasing the entire collection of premiums.

No, I am not joking.

if the pilot's good, see, I mean, if he's really..sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low [he spreads his arms like wings and laughs],

you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane like a '52. VRROOM! There's jet exhaust, fryin' chickens in the barnyard.

Se-100 (French), AD10C2 (French), RB-17(Russian and prints silver and medals if you're decent in bombers), Vampire (UK),  are my favorite premiums.

And is very good at doing ground-pounding tasks for daily missions.

That. ^  Also wanna say (as far as GAAs go) that any USSR GAA without a rear gunner is a no go. Get the BSH-1, the IL-2(mod), and/or the LBSH.  Rear gunners, significantly more credit and exp earned, and use your fave GAA pilot to gain exp faster.  The others can recommend the fighter and bomber planes better than I can..

added that to my hangar recently and keep forgetting to fly it. Guns are heat sensitive, but if you line it up it will fairly well delete things from the sky.. especially if you're top tier in the match.

Limit your bursts to no more than 4 seconds. Guns won't overheat and red planes will die.   :)

You recommend it? I was thinking about using it as a trainer for the Zero line.

An average player with an average goal: greatness, someday. Today, mediocrity will have to suffice. But no matter, I will always play to the best of my ability, and I will always strive to make the best of my ability just that little bit stronger and better.

T3 Blenheim to learn to play precision bombers.

He-111 H2 to learn to play stick bombers.

RB-17 for advanced [edited]kicking with a bomber.

IL-2 (mod) to learn ground attack.

XP-31 to learn Turn and burn fights tactics.

Me109-E3 and Spitfire set (when available) as intros to more advanced Turn and burn tactics, especially if they sell the pilot too.

Get the LBsh Russian attack plane.  It has 200mm cannons in the wings and nobody remembers that, it’s easy to surprise people with that.

Once you learn how to Turn and Burn well, the Spitfire DB605 doesn’t have a peer at its tear.

The P39-N-1 is almost, not quite but almost, as maneuverable as the spitfire and is a joy to fly.

That ought to to get you started.

I like it. Once you work out the heat cycle on the cannons. SkyWolf is entirely correct on the bursting. I suggest since it has two types of guns and the machine guns don't really overheat much that you split your fire keys for that purpose.

It's quite a nice Japanese pilot trainer in general.

My vote goes to the Ki-88 ... recently got it with discount in March of Nations.

It is a bit less maneuverable than the P-39's but has better altitude. And IMHO better on all fronts than the heavy-gun Yaks.

Or the LaGG-3 (4), very nice multi-role.

Well first off, welcome. Now that you're here activate the vampire missions. they'll take a while but you'll get one of the best t8 premiums for free.

If you want the rare ones like the hype 59 from tanks, you just missed them, the Me 210 and the Pegasus we sold about 2 weeks ago for the first and 2nd time respectively.

Now which ones are good IMO? well here's a list:
T2: XP-31
T3: P.V.3
T4: Ar 197, Lagg 3 (4),
T5: Se 100, Il-2 (mod.), A6M3 (exp.)
T6: P-39N, Spitfire V DB 605, Spitfire Vb 1M, Mustang 1A, A-26B
T7:
T8: Vampire, BV P.203, JL-1A-37, RB-17

There are a few I like that aren't in that list, but those I think are some of the best. The Gloster Meteor for example is a really fun little T7, but it's just good not exceptional. For rarity, the XF-85 Goblin is another rarer one, and is the only T9 premium so maybe that's a selling point, but it's just okay. You see one on your team and 95% of the time they'll be near the bottom of the team list.

Nobody can answer this for you.  Buying premiums is about whatever strikes your own personal fancy.  Look over the tech trees and see what premiums there appeal to you.  Just don't waste a bunch of money on them.  At the upper Tiers this game has the same silly nosebleed pricing that Tanks and Warships suffer from, but the lower Tier premiums are more affordable and go on sale for 2-5 dollars a lot.

Free ones!

Its been a while since there has been any free codes kicking around but there are pretty frequent opportunities to earn them with Missions & Crates.

Like WoT we have 2 permanent mission ones now: XP-55 and Vampire F1 that you can work on gradually.

Upcoming Tu-1 mission may be out of reach for a new player but is a good example of opportunities.

I have been picking up cheap low to mid tier ones that struck my fancy over the course of a year. They cost about as much as value meal at Wendy's.

So of course half of my 60 odd planes are premiums.

>>> careful how you use this plane./ it is the definition of a Seal Clubber<<<

Me109-E3 and Spitfire set (when available) as intros to more advanced Turn and burn tactics, especially if they sell the pilot too.

>>>Ummm, actually; The Bf 109-E3 is a intro into Boom & Zoom tactics.
Most of its "turning and burning" are of the vertical variety.
This Energy fighting is still an important thing to learn if you ever want to fly things that are fast at high altitudes

Get the LBsh Russian attack plane.  It has 200mm cannons in the wings and nobody remembers that, it’s easy to surprise people with that.

Once you learn how to Turn and Burn well, the Spitfire DB605 doesn’t have a peer at its tear.

That ought to to get you started.

RB-17 for advanced [edited]kicking with a bomber.
Running a bomber will help you understand what kills them.
And help you out in eventually selecting a heavy fighter to switch off to when you get tired of bombing.

Will you want to get one? If you like bombers then yes.
Should you get one right away? No.

>>> its a bit pricey because its a tier 8 Premium.
Most tier 8 premiums are pricey. about the price of a triple A game on release day<<<
and do not always come with gentle learning curves.
Combined with WarGaming's  policy on returns you should really take heed of the phrase "Buyer Beware"

But tier 8 premiums will make you the most in game moneys. By far.
Grinding daily missions to accumulate tokens having a tier 8 "anything" is required.
Finding one that you think you want to play a lot is really important.
So you can enjoy getting your money's worth.
Speaking of getting your money's worth ... pay attention to special bonus stuff that comes with certain offers.

For example the wings of liberty bundle gives you not just a plane and a hanger slot but a fat pile of gold (you could get some other cheap premiums with it) a fair amount of credits to get you started, a full suit of ultimate level equipment. and even some lootboxes  and a ten skill crew.
you could grind hard for 6 months and not have that last part.
All for 72 dollars american. That is not chump change.
But it DOES allow you to gain the benefits of a hard no life 6 month grind fest In the time it takes to pull out your credit card.
