The B-52D with a capability (with Big Belly Mod) of 32 tons of bombs was the mainstay of the Vietnam Bombing Campaign.  The flares you saw coming off the H model were one of the systems I maintained.

thanks for what you did CUPants

:honoring:

story I was told,

working in tandem...

the ability to clear over a mile of forest and buildings in one pass

100,000 pounds of explosives dropped in seconds

.

that scream of the engines you hear after passing,

is telling you your world has just been turned upside down

awesome may be an understatement

if the pilot's good, see, I mean, if he's really..sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low [he spreads his arms like wings and laughs],

you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane like a '52. VRROOM! There's jet exhaust, fryin' chickens in the barnyard.

That crash happened at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, WA.  In fact, you can see the control tower in the background.  I have no doubt that the low-level flying stuff in the middle of the video was at the Yakima Range, but I know for a fact that crash was at the Fairchild airshow.
