I just wanted to clear things up.  I have no business trying polls as I can never get them to work.  Anyway, here is my question:

A:

Uptiered - being in a lower tier (ex T7) and facing higher tier players (ex T8)

Downtiered - being in a higher tier (ex T8) and facing lower tier players (ex T7)

B:

Uptiered - being in a higher tier (ex T8) and facing lower tier players (ex T7)

Downtiered - being in a lower tier (ex T7) and facing higher tier players (ex T8)

So is it A or B?  I always saw it as B:  I am Uptiered meaning I am in the higher tier out of the 2.  From reading many posts, I might have it backwards.

What say you all?  If a poll is needed, I nominate legoboy to start it as he seems to have surpassed the long-forgotten Porkins in poll frequency.  (Lego:  Porkins is a long lost player who had an affinity to poll, nothing detrimental, don't be offended).

I always thought it was option A...

I think some people use it one way and some use it the other though.

:medal:

I always thought it was B.

I suppose it boils down to you viewing it from your personal perspective or from the games' perspective.

I've always used B but I'm told that A is the common use for players from that other airplane game.

If I or my opponent gets into a higher tier then it is up tiering.

I use option B.  If I am the lower tier plane, I'm down-tiered.  Seems logical to me.  :great:

I use uptiered and downtiered synonymously.

If I am flying the highest tier in the battle I am "uptier".

If I am flying the lowest tier I am downtiered/uptiered.

I go with "B" , but I'm generally in the lower tier anyways unless I'm in T10 plane.

Considering you:

a) haven't offered a single constructive comment for well over six months,

b) sure as hell haven't done anything constructive here,

c) couldn't be arsed to even link us to the topic you obviously posted yourself seeing how nettled you are at what is an innocuous piece of forum trivia whereas dozens of straight up radioactive threads have somehow escaped your ire

I'd invite you to help make this forum a better place.

Hey, look, what a useful post!  Posting idiotic things is kind of a theme with you, huh?

In answer to the original question, I have always understood it to be "B", and use it that way.  If I am T7 against T8/T7 opponents, I am downtiered.  If I am T8 against T8/T7 opponents, I am uptiered.  I will often only use this when talking about humans in-game.

I always thought it was "A."  I "got uptiered" to me meant MM had put me against a higher tier.
Spoiler

I think it's a difference of perspective.  If you look at it from the perspective of the game and the MM mechanics (from outside) or from your own personal perspective (from the inside).  Thus, both usages are correct.  For WoWP, I think the majority use the outside perspective, but a significant minority uses the inside perspective.

Thanks for being ever-so- helpful Mars.

There are conflicting terminologies here. "uptier & uptiered" being the culprit.

Being "uptier" means that you are the higher tier.

Being "uptiered" means that you are the lower tier.
