I have nearly all the planes available right now with 258, about a dozen shy of what is possible at this time.  I got to wondering what proportion of the total did each class have?  These percentages apply to my hangar and are rounded off.  As usual with this game I was surprised.

Bm  #18  7%

GA  #29  11%

HF  #35  14%

MR  #59  23%

LF  #117  45%

So what surprised me?  The sheer number of LF and MR in the game.  Together their percentages amount to over 2/3 of all available planes.  Yet the forum chatter seems heavily weighted to bombers and HF.  I wonder why?  The Blessed Nerfs from Above seem heavily weighted to bombers and GA.  I wonder why?

Maybe I am associating forum chatter with interest in the classes?  Maybe folks chat about planes they really don't intend to own or fly?  I don't know.

As primarily a HF player, I talk about them a lot.  In addition, since bombers are the natural food of the HF, I also talk about bombers a lot.  :)

Bombers are the newest class in the game so it's only natural conversation and rebalances will revolve around them and their natural enemy. Moreso than any other class, there's a distinct predator/prey relationship between Bombers and Heavies so that's what people will argue about.

GAAs just get hit as collateral damage during the balances because they share a similar ecosystem to bombers.

My guess? There's less to complain about as an MRF or LF pilot and they have the longest running balance attempts on them and ergo are most stable.

Reason for the disparity in options is probably partly that they started off mostly MRF and LF heavy and also.. Well.. that's what the world looked like at the time. ANyone who could build a plane in the 40s was being contrated to build fighters.. Bombers and HEavies and etc. had fewer options.. though I am still mad there's no Black Widow HF.

258 aircraft is no small number

WOW, that is more than twice as many planes as me.

As for the forum chatter, my guess. 85% is from you about the bombers and such.

The rest are people trying to make other interesting posts about different topics.

Never mind I looked at the player list in the battle. I think I was the only human in that match.

Disregard. Not such a great battle after all.

LOL, there are at least three or four dozen I have never flown.  I accumulate them in my Pants Museum of Unused Planes.  Two bits to enter and gawk.  No touching!

LOL, you most certainly mean me.

Are 85% of my planes in my hangar bombers? Let's see, shall we?

Fighters(out of a total of 27 planes): 44% of hangar space

Multiroles: 11% of hangar space

Heavy Fighters: 11% of hangar space

Ground Attack Aircraft: 7% of hangar space

Bombers: 26% of hangar space

Bombers take up a decent amount of my hangar space, but even I have more fighters than I do bombers.

An average player with an average goal: greatness, someday. Today, mediocrity will have to suffice. But no matter, I will always play to the best of my ability, and I will always strive to make the best of my ability just that little bit stronger and better.

Similar boat. 60 planes and half of them are (mostly) cheap premiums i picked up here and there for the cost of a fast food meal

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is very hit or miss. Usually I start on the right track and then a make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...
And yet it doesn't stop me from speculation.
Specialist Planes i have:
USA: XP-31, F1C-2, Model 81A-1, P-40, F4F, P-38F, P-39N-1, P-47B, P-38J, XF15C, XP-58

USSR: Tu-1  UK: DH.100 F1. Japan: not even once. France: SE 100
Germany: Fw 56, He 112, Fw 190 A-5, Bf 109 B, Bf 109 E, Bf 109 E-3, Me209 A, Do 17 Z, Do 217 M, Hs 123, Ha 137, Ju 87 G, Me 265, Me 1099 B-2,  Bf 110 C-6, Me 410, Do 335 A-1,

Damn, OP - that’s a lot of planes!

As for forum content?

HF’s are enticing planes for people to write/ask about, because they largely tend towards the extremes of the BnZ playstyle - which, in itself, is not a bad subject to have a regular circulation of posts running on.... Not always intuitive for the uninitiated.

I think there’s generally less posts about LFs - particularly those that run closer to TNB - because of the flexibililty they allow in-game. They generally punish you the least for flying outside their playstyle, allow for more reactive play, and have a gentler learning curve than many. By the time you start having to to leverage your turning against extreme speeds, you’ve had a lot of practice & it generally requires less discipline & more reflexive thinking. Talkin’ broad strokes here.

Although, looking back - there are a lot of MRF posts - as those planes are often sort of “hybridized” in their playstyles & offer more room for interesting takes.

Bombers? They’re new - aaaaand there’s the obvious.
