I specialized my P-38F (tier 5 American heavy fighter) today and, although it does show it is as specialized, the additional equipment and consumable slots are still locked. The plane is completely unlocked and is in "elite" state. These slots hould now be usable in specialized configuration. I restarted the computer, ran the check and repair function, and cleared the cache from the start up options menu, but the slots are still locked. I also sold and rebought the plane with no positive change. This has occurred only today and only on this plane (although I have not tried to specialize any other planes today). Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do to unlock the slots?

Once you have completed the requirements for specialization you must then purchase (with credits) the specialist configuration.
This will effectively grant you 2 different planes in one hanger slot.

You can switch between each configuration in your user interface by selecting the Upgrades button
when you do you should see a window show up in the upper left hand of your screen.
it will list the name of your air craft (p38-f) and the amount of experience you have on the plane in the first line.
Under neath this in the second line it shows STOCK and SPECIALIZED.
clicking on them with your mouse switches between the two configurations
The stock setting is what you should be used to seeing. The specialist setting has the window trimmed in gold and limits the selection of upgrades.

Normally the specialized option is greyed out and has a lock icon in front of it.

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is very hit or miss. Usually I start on the right track and then a make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...
And yet it doesn't stop me from speculation.
Specialist Planes i have:
USA: XP-31, F1C-2, Model 81A-1, P-40, F4F, P-38F, P-39N-1, P-47B, P-38J, XF15C, XP-58

USSR: Tu-1  UK: DH.100 F1. Japan: not even once. France: SE 100
Germany: Fw 56, He 112, Fw 190 A-5, Bf 109 B, Bf 109 E, Bf 109 E-3, Me209 A, Do 17 Z, Do 217 M, Hs 123, Ha 137, Ju 87 G, Me 265, Me 1099 B-2,  Bf 110 C-6, Me 410, Do 335 A-1,

wylle, you have solved the problem.  I had paid the silver price to specialize but had not clicked on the specialized button in the upgrades section.  However, I have probably 75 planes specialized and never had this problem in the past.  Thanks for your input.\; it worked.

Happy bonus You can switch back and forth between the two configurations.
This is especially useful in the P-38 where the "Top" gun is not always the "Best" gun

so you can run the P-38 with the 20 mm  and the two pieces of equipment and 3 consumables.
The equipment can even be Advanced or Ultimate but you wont be able to gain the bonus abilities.

or  you can hit the specialist configuration and the plane switches to a completely different set up
37 mm gun (with or without rockets) and 4 pieces of equipment and 5 consumables that may be completely different from the stock set up.

with no token cost for switching between the two configurations. :great:

Yes it normally applies automatically when you buy Specialist config.

C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas le SerB.
