The CorvusCorvax escort service gets your bomber to and from the target, and prevents those pesky fighters from annoying you during your bombing run.  As a bonus, with some maps, CorvusCorvax can also help with that darn flak. by going in ahead of time and blowing up those guns.

If you don't swing that way, I can also help out when you fly ground attack aircraft - I just change from heavy fighter to multi-role.  Let me know, and add me to your contacts.

Wait, what kind of escort service did you think I was talking about here??

Over here pick me hand up pick me lol.

Your escort service is amazing, give it a 9.5.

You have mastered what so many have over looked.

Always have fun flying with you, and enjoy the many wins.

And next time we go can you bring Ginger and Sherry?   :teethhappy:

You are the best bomber escort in the business. You are like a warm blankie right out of the clothes dryer. I'm just not saying that because you're my "little buddy" as some people have asserted. Beyond the talk and the hype it is results that matter and Corvus you have figured out how to feast on opposing planes by waiting for them to line up behind a bomber and then quickly annihilate them. Not only smart play but very efficient as well, because you get lots of easy kills and the bomber gets to bomb without impediment.

    You have my full endorsement.

Cheers!

Escort and cover requires a certain mindset.  Sometimes I go all trikke and get distracted by shiny objects, but that doesn't happen as often.  I have found that I can excel at using an aircrafts strengths if I don't have to worry about managing the battle.  A bomber pilot has time to look over the battlefield and direct traffic.  Or can have that time, if they aren't being pestered by red heavy fighters.

The advent of the higher tier bombers will allow flights where I can use my two most powerful planes in a role where they can shine.  Monkeying around down at Yak altitude isn't the best for a HF.

There's not room in the cockpit for two extra people.  The bomber pilot has to provide his own entertainment!  LOL.

While I can do good work as a bomber escort, I can also offer cover service for folks grinding aircraft.  I just have to know up front what sort of service you need.  Close cover?  SEAD?  High cover?  Presector clean-up (distract ADA so you can do stuff in-sector without getting molested)?  Grinding for tokens?  Specialist?  Let me know, and I'll help.  If we need to, we'll use Discord for voice comms.

Good on ya, Corvus. I like your approach to this; gives you a different appreciation for the planes. Leveraging a particular class/airframe is one thing, flying to a role is something else.

I mostly fly solo, but hats off to your service & I look forward to facing off against it in the skies.

Agreed, though I mostly fly solo as well.

An average player with an average goal: greatness, someday. Today, mediocrity will have to suffice. But no matter, I will always play to the best of my ability, and I will always strive to make the best of my ability just that little bit stronger and better.

If you ever need to grind a bomber, I do the bomber escort thing pretty OKish.

I actually brought this up a month or two back. Of course I didn't advertise it.....in the same way....

As far as the GA cover, it is part of my game play and has been for several years.

Thats a really nice offer Corvus.  I myself am working on being the bestest wing girl in the sky.  I am however a complete low tier noob and a founding member of the Loyal Order of the Flaming Scarf (with spectacular faceplants) and that sometimes spills over in ... like crashing into my wing persons or very very accidentally ventilating their planes.

If anyone wants my services in biplane fighers, just let me know (I'm relatively safe, after all I usually only have two machine guns to very very accidentally ventilate you your plane with).  :izmena:

Yes, it's haughty and its arrogant but you're a battleship with 16 inch guns and Britannia Rules the Waves.  Maybe a bit of arrogance in this case is appropriate.

But yeah, I like flying escort, and cover - it's more fun than trying to wrangle bots (herd cats, whatever.)  Win or lose, I get much more satisfaction from helping out a mate.

I have an easy fix.  I fly cover for YOU.  That way, you're flying and doing stuff.  I am keeping your tail clear.  That will be my whole job. T1 - T10.  (Warning, I only have one T1 plane, and only 1 T10 plane right now.)

If you wanna fly, and not be pestered by pesky red planes, I'm your huckleberry.

My thinking on this was that there are folks out there who are going to want to grind their T9/10 bombers, and not have to fall to overly-excited HF pilots like myself, who just can't wait for more human targets.  Errr, players.

Oh yeah, I have heard you, and also asked you if you really know what the gold arrow on you map was when we were flighted....???? heheh

GL with your venture man, you need wing training IMO however!

How do you suppose to keep track of those you intend to cover? Specially when you leave your wing in flight alone chasing...."shiny objects"

:honoring:

Yeah, having a plan up front is always good.  If I am cover, I need an aircraft that is an altitude and speed match for the covered airplane (or close.)  If there is no plan (as in, I don't have an assignment up front, before the battle starts), I just go in the same general direction as my flightmate.

If I get shot down, I do my best to rejoin my flightmate.  Sometimes the red team has other plans...

Corvus with all due respect:

The time I have flighted with you....there has been no melt....I have flown wing with many and when wings melt, they nearly take each other out, they share many kills, save each other many times.......

I asked you if you knew what the gold target on your map was, I asked that because it was me and you were no where around me?

I wish you the best in your en devour.

Corvus; to be fair, is at least going to the effort to put thought into matching up an appropriate escort to the appropriate plane.
which a damn sight better than what you sometimes get from a random flight.

Sure the obvious match up may be a German Bomber in tier 5-6  with an P-38 Lighting (F or J)
(All of which are fast, and can fly into Low Earth Orbit, and hit what they are aiming at like a ton of bricks)

A less obvious scenario may be here

So points to Corvus for putting some thought into this.

Yet, Aziz makes a good point. Sometimes wingmen dont work out too well.

Because the effort to match planes is useless if either pilot has a tendency to go "oh Shiny " and wander off without telling his/her wingman who is busy at the moment trying to kill a thing.
And when they are done exploding a thing they check their map to realize that the wing man turned left, they turned right, and now are 2 minutes at cruise speed away from each other.

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is much like my WinRate. Hit or Miss.
Usually I start on the right track and then a make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...
And yet it doesn't stop me from speculation.

Specialist Planes I have from : Japan, USA, UK, Germany, USSR, Europe
Light Fighters:   XP-31, Model 81A-1, P-40, P-51A, P-39N-1, XF15C, DH.100 F1, Fw 56, He 112, Bf 109 B / E / E-3 / F, Me209v4, Me209 A, I-17
Multi-Roles: Type 91, F11C-2, F4F, P-47B, Fw 190 A-1 / A-5 / D, I- 5 / 15 / 16(e)(l)

Heavy Fighters: P-38 F/J,  XP-58, Beaufighter,  Bf 110 C-6, Me 410, Do 335 A-1, Me 262, Tu-1, SE 100,

Attack Aircraft: Hs 123, Ha 137, Hs 129 A, Ju 87 G, Me 265, Me 1099 B-2
Bombers: Do 17 Z, He 111 H2, Pe-2, Do 217 M

"We gotta work on our communication skills." ~ Will Smith to Jeff Goldblum

In the battle under discussion, I made three critical errors, any of which could have been fatal.  First, we weren't on voice comms, and should have been.  Second, there wasn't a solid plan or understanding of roles.  Third, I had the wrong plane for that battle.  I took a chance on a plane that might have worked on a different map with a different target set, with different opposition.  The battle was lost in the first minute, and I'm not sure even if I had picked a better aircraft we would have won.

Like I said previous, due to the way things shook out in the first minute, I spent more time in respawn and transit than in actual combat.

Thankfully, by the third minute, they had superiority, and the battle ended quickly.  Chalk it up to not fully contemplating the choices, and choosing poorly at every point.  The next couple of battles worked out just fine, tho.
