For me I really enjoyed the Tier V and the Tier VII. Odd I suppose but I'm glad others find it enjoyable!

I hated the 109F at first, but then Reitousair showed me what could be done and after some tinkering, I find its an excellent airplane.

That rudder input and nose-low pull is ridiculous. I am going to have to practice that with my 109B.  Oh, I have to re-purchase my 109E.

Hmm, favorite plane at every tier? That's a bit difficult for me since I fly so many things but I'll try to figure something out.

Tier 1: I don't fly low tier.

Tier 2: Really, I don't fly low tier.
Tier 3: I don't fly low tier.

Tier 4: I don't fly low tier.

Tier 5: P-38F/Ki-45

Tier 6: I-210/Bf-109 F/Ki-102/Mosquito 26

Tier 7: P-51K/J4M/Ki-93

Tier 9: F6U/F2H

Tier 10: F7U

I do fly Chinese aircraft a fair amount so... *ahem*

CHINA NUMBAH WAN

I even made a custom skin for my IL-10M!

Well it IS Reitousair so you can't argue with the results... But yeah, I'm SO glad the March of nations in on USSR now so I can be done with the I-210 lol.

@Reit, I just got the F6U during the American March. I really enjoy it because of its similarities to the F2H. Is that the same for you or is there a different reason you like the Pirate?

You mean in the video? Or explaining my change of heart? I don't like to narrate during a fight simply because I have trouble concentrating on two things at once and 99% of my videos are off the cuff replays rather than things I set out to record.

Change of heart was just watching Reitousair go to town in the 109F during the Bomber Escort event. The two of us spent an entire day flying in a 190 A-5/109F flight and just BTFO'd everyone and he was racking up insane scores in it and shooting people off my tail with ease and, I'm not sure whereabouts during our conversation, he mentioned that for best results, the 109F needs to be within 450m to a target before opening fire and it struck me that part of the reason I had issues with the 109F could have been that I was opening fire at maximum range (700m) where only my hub 20mm could strike targets. A combination of this plus the inevitable dispersion would've seriously diluted my firepower and by the time I closed in to where my 7.92s could have any effect, my hub cannon would have overheated. The result would've been erratic firepower at best - so I finally took the plunge and tried flying the thing again... and completely sucked at it. I still hated the thing and I even have a video to that effect:

Basically I felt that I was "along for the ride" and had no real impact on the battle. I couldn't put planes down in a timely fashion, I was blazing away at people and not killing them, the plane just felt inadequate in the melee.

Ironically, it was a question in the General Forums that got me back on trying the plane. Someone asked if it was better to stack MM1 + MM2 + ADE on a 109F, the idea being to maximize what little firepower you already had with double MM. I actually hopped into the plane to try things out (at the time I was running MM1 + EG1 + ADE + FR) and came away convinced that the correct combination was EG1 + EG2 + ADE. In this configuration, I could outclimb and outrun Spitfires in a straight out boost, catch up with Lightnings and other heavy fighters and basically have so much performance in reserve that it wouldn't matter that I couldn't put a target down in a pass - I could always loop back around to finish them off. A later video ("Light Fighter") shows how I started figuring out the plane

I got away from the whole slashing passes thing and instead used the plane's superior energy retention and the bonuses to speed and acceleration I'd stacked on to fly it as a vertical TnB. If I got in trouble, just point the nose straight up and boost away, so by the time the 109F vs. P-38J event rolled around, I'd massed enough time in it to take it out with some confidence. That event just cemented that confidence for me - I could fly the plane with as much expectation to carry in it as any other airplane - I just needed to think around its weaknesses and focus on its strengths.

Its now the second tier 6 airplane I have fully Specialized with Ultimate Equipment loaded for even more ridiculous performance. My pilot will get ABE for his 9th skillpoint when he finally gets there.

Block Quote

109B is pretty ridiculously OP for its tier: 1700m altitude, easy 600km/h in a bit of a dive, 4mgs & a 20mm (though I preferred to go with all mg) in T4.

I probably should buy it back, I've got a big bunch of 5pt German pilots sitting round in barracks just sitting round drinking schnapps.

So I bought the 109B back, turns out I've got a Gift 20% Crew XP Spanish civil war cammo for it :B

(cool for free cammo, not cool for the facist side of spanish civil war...)

I wasn't overly fond of the I-16 (l.). The early was a beast but the late felt overmatched more often than not.

I love those low tier premium Russian biplanes !

Flew a lot of DI-6i, I-153 DM-4, I-207/4 and I-15bis DM-2 for March of Nations. Would love to have the I-5 ShKAS for the collection.

1. I-5

2. Fw-56

3. Ki-27

5. Bf-109E

7. P-47N

It does not mean I don't fly or don't like other planes, I might even fly better in them. There are missions where other plane types are needed, or I just want to fly my other planes. Ar-2, He-111, Do-219 as bombers;

 P-47B, P-43, F-84F, Me-109TL as multiroles;

 P-38F, Bf-109Z, XP-75, Do-335 as heavies;

IL-20, IL-40 as GA;

Yak-1M as the best Soviet fighter, He-112 and Bf-109B as an alternative to Ki-43-1, La-11 as a good premium Soviet plane, Ki-84 as good turning fighter, FJ-1 Fury as a good tier 9.

I am really struggling with the P-47N. Some games can be great but I feel like against decent humans this plane is outclassed more often than not. Any suggestions anyone?

Hmm; this is a point that remains all the way to the XP-72 (I’m just about to step up to the Thunderjets).

This is can be a satisfying plane, but it’s a tricky one. Here’s my experience:

1) Always maintain your energy state. Barring exception, stay high (edging in to your yellow), stay fast. Your speed, boost, dive, and roll rate are your tools for both creating and breaking engagements. Unless it’s just you vs a heavy / ga, DO NOT TURN. Your minimap, oddly, becomes one of your best tools. Zoom it in one step, so you can easily track target’s flight paths. Tab out as needed to make sure the attack you’re about to make is not going to end you up in enemy territory. Aim for targets headed away from you, and ones that seem low on energy. Use your roll rate to keep them in front of you for as long as possible, but do not sacrifice speed. If they break too sharply, speed off in the horizontal and reset. You have INCREDIBLE boost. Against other energy/heavy fighters, don’t let them force an overshoot with a roll - you’ve got better. Force them to turn out of your guns, and then BOOST away if you couldn’t kill. Resist the urge to stick around if they’re crippled/burning, better to keep your energy and finish them in the next pass - or switch to an unaware target/relocate.

2. Forget about the player. No, seriously. The Thunderbolts are poor choices for surgically gunning down your top rival on the red side. 1v1, a solo light fighter will, if not always beat you in a duel, eat up far too much of your time.

So what do you have? Enough ordance to swing a point that’s already had a nudge, enough mg’s to melt anything you get on the tail of, insane boost, and amongst the best speeds for moving from sector to sector. So you do you. If someone is jockeying for a one v one, don’t give it to them. Drag them in to AA, friendlies. Dash to another sector and get value for your ordnance. Or go eat unattended GA; you are actually amongst the best planes for this - but the moment their backup shows up, boost away.

And be a wary, opportunistic hunter. The moment someone’s not paying attention to you, drop (or boost) in like the high-speed brick you are, get your damage in, and keep going. You can’t quite play and plan like a light fighter; always keep in mind what your escape route will be.

Use your sustained speed and ordnance to keep the rhythym of the caps in your favor - use your energy to engineer unfair fights. Operate on the edges of the action, but rarely solo. Forget duels, win the match.
