Any Tier. Heavy Fighters.

Why? Because Heavy fighters.

Have you not SEEN the P-38?  Its so pretty.

1) Was good to fly with you last night!

2) I was an unabashed 'light' fighter pilot for my first 9 months playing this game but the American heavy line showed me the light, eh.. um.. heavy...  and now I absolutely love them. There are still some heavies I am not fond of but my favorites list shows I've opened up to the joys of a good heavy beatdown lol.

T1 pass

T2 pass

T3 Skua its kinda awful, pretty ugly but so very British, my first or 2nd T3, most flown plane still & yet somehow the crew is still only 7pt.

T4 Hurricane I is my go-to, speed ok, agility ok, 8* mgs and fast reloading bombs (plus I have nice special cammo).

T5 lots of options here, probably P-40 but it doesn't quite feel right since I re-purchased it & put new pilot in, I think is hit by the Equipment rework, actually re-purchased MiG-3 yesterday & it is still pretty amazing.

T6 also lots of options & lots I've kept in hangar, probably gonna go with La-5 as actual favourite, exemplifies the happy medium of the line.

T7 is easy I-220 fast, altitude 4*20mm & without a big agility penalty what a great plane & gorgeous rackish looks.

T8 I want it to be Tempest but honestly I'm not having nearly as much fun with it as I'd wanted, always seems to be struggling for speed & hits while La-9 feels more like how I'd expected Tempest to be -> remains my go-to T8.

T9 gonna probably go with MiG-9, I'm really quite enjoying it which bodes well for MiG-15 bis. I haven't run into a T9 keeper yet. Yak-19 was unexpectedly good as is FJ-1 & I kinda enjoyed La-160.

T10 I've only got 3 so far so out of La-15, Yak-30 & Swift La-15 wins pretty easy.

I need to go down the La line, I've heard a lot of good about it. I agree about the Swift tho, such a disappointment to me after the fun of the rest of the Spit line. @ Tier VIII I really wanted the Tempest to be the best too but it's not even the best Tier VIII multirole imo, much less best overall at the tier. It's not bad at all but its kinda the "meh" plane of the line I think.

Tier 2: Arado Ar-67

I like this plane a lot - its extremely maneuverable with decent firepower. I actually Specialized it despite not actually flying it anymore - in case I need to tryhard at tier 2 for whatever reason. Probably hunting a sealclubber. In fact this plane makes my list mostly because it was my ride when I beat the crap out of a certain abusive sealclubbing waffle lover three games straight.

Nice to see some love for the Ar 67... most people ignore her for her sister, the 68... who puts out (more lead... because more guns)

Most people overlook the 67s shining features... mainly it's tiny size (smaller than tier 1s) and the fact that it is a tier 2 bi-plane with flaps!

I don't want to hurt you... I just want to kill you!

Tier 4 might be a tie between the BSh-2 and the LBSh.

Tier 5 probably the Duck (Hs 129 B). It's just such a meme to me that I enjoy making the damn thing work. :D

Tier 6 IL-2 (t), for me it's like the old faithful. :honoring:

Tier 7 IL-8, no contest. :izmena:

Tier 8 surprisingly enough, maybe the Me 329. It just feels fun to use. :amazed:

Tier 9 Dragon Plane (IL-40 with dragon camo), though shotgunning enemies with the Me P.1099 B-2's quad 30s is also fun. :playing:

Tier 10 IL-40P, but mostly since the Me P.1102 B just feels like "another fast german GAA" to me. :sceptic:

This is my IL-2 (t). There are many like it, but this one is mine. :child:

I P-12 - does great lag rolls and retains energy well
II FW 56 - great energy fighter at tier 2
III I-16(e) - nimble in turns and rolls; Skua - jack of all trades, master of none, certainly better than master of one
IV A6M1 - turns hard; Ki-43-1c - turns harder
V MiG-3 - goes fast, climbs fast, turns fast; Yak-7 - maneuverable sniper; Beaufighter - swing-role bruiser
VI P-47B - gotta go fast(I don't run ordnance on this); A-26B - bomber and bomber killer; Mosquito 26 - nothing special but its fun
VII P-51K - an all-round good fighter
VIII Ta-152 - altitude and boom boom
IX F-94D - mainly for the Vulcan and the FFARs
X MiG-15 - excellent speed and altitude, a light fighter that can ruin the day of heavies

IV - Fantome, Bf 109 B

  • stupid nimble and stupid fast, here.

V - ? P-38F, I suppose :p

  • haven’t moved up the american heavies beyond this, but it’s a nice middleweight heavy.

VI - Mustang Mk.I, Bf 109

  • my chunky bullet hose, and a precision instrument. The F may be woefully undergunned, but oh she flies nice.

VII - Me 265, Bf 109 Z, P-47N

  • the 265 is hands-down a fun little monster. The Z I *haaaated*, but now I’m no longer grinding it, I’ve got a soft spot for it. P-47N feels like the best of the Jug line - haven’t gotten beyond the Xp-72.

VIII - Me 262, F2G

  • the lead is a little unfriendly, but another one of those “joy to fly” planes. F2G sums up so much I loved of the corsairs, and does an exemplary job not feeling outclassed surrounded by jets.

IX - Attacker, Me 262 HG II

  • The Attacker feels suprisingly perfect at tier IX; satisfying manueverabilty, fantastic speed, and capable guns. Great for catching people unaware. Aaaand the HG II. When you line up a good run, nothing compares.

Two F-94D / F-84F in a row?! I do have to admit the F-94D is a great plane. I got it during the American week and haven't really played it since, except when streaming but it's a blast to play for sure! Once the March of Nations is over I will certainly be playing it a lot more.

The P39N1 is a great little plane. Really unlike the other American planes in so many ways, but still well balanced.

And the Mosquito has been fun, but again the March of Nations has taken me away form my normal grinding So I have only flown it a few times.

Bf109B seems to be a fan favorite!

P-38F leads to so many good planes, keep going!

I just couldn't wrap the Bf109F around my head. Was very frustrating for me but glad others enjoy it :)

And I just got the Me 265 and it is already a joy!

For the F2G, it better be a good plane right? If we have to grind TWO Tier IX planes from it (I think 330,000ish total XP) it better be good, or at least fun. It was both for me. A keeper!

Agree about your Tier IX choices, both stellar planes

My Bf 109 F play has yet to really come together... but I’m enjoying it, and slowly learning to leverage its strengths. I’m actually putting my first five skill points to EG 1 & 2; your cone of fire is tight & overheat happens quickly... I’m finding it’s really not worth it to take your first shot if you’re over 500 meters. Highspeed passes, and then get high, ALT-view everything below you, swoop on a kill & get out.

It’s all pinpoint bursts, you’re a surgeon. Very different from my Mustang Mk.I, where it’s about setting up for 3-5 seconds of a steady DPS stream, priotizing wide profiles. You’re not whirling death like a spit, zero, or yak - but you execl at putting that damage RIGHT where you want it, and can move quickly across altitude bands to do so.

The B just has those 109 flight characteristics with a very forgiving weapon loadout. It doesn’t sound like much, but while looking at each in-tier: the F is really undergunned compared to the B... but not having to worry about convergence gives the F an interesting edge & flexibility within its 500-meter range.

Shameless self promo

I hated the 109F at first, but then Reitousair showed me what could be done and after some tinkering, I find its an excellent airplane.

Niiiice footage. I envy the field-of-view flexibity of mouse users - though I keep mine on-hand for that, it means hands off the stick.

We should flight up again sometime, now that I’m done the mission grind & can actually work at being a decent wingman.

I think I know what would be your favorite plane to fly in this game, were it actually ingame: the Avro Lancaster!

Haha, mebbe. The bombers have yet to really click with me, just have the German line. Just have fond memories of seeing the Lancaster in an aviation museum as a kid, remained a visual touchstone for me; love the look.

Damn it, I’m gonna explore the Brit heavies. Only at the Blenheim right now.

To be fair, the Russian ones haven't clicked with me at all, and for the most part I am less than a fan of my B-17D, but I like the latter's playstyle.

My German ones, however, have scored me my highest efficiency rate out of any class in the game(I've played all 5 already, just like most everyone else) at a respectable 8.1% I believe it is.

Ugh it was awful, was always flying defensive getting picked on by several bots at once.

109B is pretty ridiculously OP for its tier: 1700m altitude, easy 600km/h in a bit of a dive, 4mgs & a 20mm (though I preferred to go with all mg) in T4.

I probably should buy it back, I've got a big bunch of 5pt German pilots sitting round in barracks just sitting round drinking schnapps.

109E was also pretty great but the F? You guys are crazy, its fast & all but that firepower is just too weak, there are loads of much better planes in T6.

C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas le SerB.
