Okay, you talked me into it. And, I will admit, grudgingly...

...that I liked it.  In fact, I liked it a lot.

I think my dismay with the Bf-109Z wasn't the speed or the turn rate (both of which are nice for T7), but those Odin-awful guns.  The MK108 30mm cannon have such short range, fire slowly, and have such low velocity that it's like lobbing potatoes at the other planes.  But dang, when those potatoes hit...

I have a specialized Me-262 that I go out and get into all kinds of trouble in - dogfighting Ta-152s, blowing up ground targets, tail-riding B-32s - and I've gotten used to how those cannon run.  In the Bf-109Z, the cannons are grouped VERY poorly, so putting all the rounds on target requires a very large target.  Oh, like a bomber.  This thing eats up B-32s.

I'm going to put a 5-point pilot in it so I can run MMI + MMII, and specialize it so I can run the sight.  I might give it a speed build, just for the heck of it.  In the battles I played tonight, I actually remembered that in some cases, it's a lot of fun.  That poor Yak-3RD pilot found out that a few of those 30mm rounds can really ruin your whole day.  Word to the wise - if you're flying a Yak, get something that helps you fight fires...

Just sayin'

Hey I like mine, especially when planes line up in front of those guns.

I just have to remember not to turn fight with a light.

in the game below I was lucky that one pilot was on my team instead of the enemies I think.

I hated the Zwilling so much I rage sold it twice before I finally ground through to the 262. The 262 and 262 HG II are both vast improvements and restored my faith in German Heavies... so if you -like- the Zwilling... I cannot wait to face off against you in the 262 LOL

*sigh*  Sold my "Z" so long ago and the pilot has moved on and shall not return.

I loved the sound of those guns in the video.  GG by the way, very nice battle.

Makes me yearn for that plane again but like the 109F and G, I got my battle scars.  I was so bad in the Z, I thought I might die of old age before moving up to the 262.  And then, that was a fiasco as well.  Lobbing grenades at fireflies.

Perhaps some day when I feel like a project, I will return to that mutant plane.

Again, good video follow-up, and a good plane to fly at T7.  But when you are up-tiered, the almighty help you.

Yep, so that's why I put the German project gas-operated action on it, it really seems to help. Not for range, but the ROF went up enough to land more hits ...

Nice one.  My third flight of the night was almost like that - once I figured out where the guns shoot, it's just a matter of angles and saving enough boost to get out of Dodge.

Exactly.  GOA really helps with the slow ROF guns.

Especially when you go with the gun cooldown.bonuses.

Though i have seen (and made) arguments for Long Barrels.
(Base Range goes up and the bonus crit chance and accuracy are nice)
But that requires knowing how to not shoot your guns all the time :sceptic:

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is much like my WinRate. Hit or Miss.
Usually I start on the right track and then a make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...
And yet it doesn't stop me from speculation.
